The Blitz
At the top of the district’s defensive ladder, you will find the usual district title contenders in Cypress Falls and Cypress Fairbanks. This has been the staple of the district for years and it will not be any different in 2013. Cypress Falls has heavily recruited LB Otaro Alaka as their key holdover from last season. Alaka is getting attention from almost every premiere college program in the country and his recruitment will be a very big benefit for the rest of the Cypress Falls squad. Cypress Fairbanks does not have a marquee name but as a unit, the Bobcats are expected to perform at a very solid level. Counting on DBs Malik Doran and Brandon Richmond in the backfield will be a key asset. Langham Creek, does bring back a very experienced backfield and will roll the dice with Nico Costanzo at linebacker. Cypress Creek with DE Michael White could help get the Cougars in back into the playoffs after missing it in 2012. Speaking of playoff teams and 2013 hopefuls, Cypress Ranch will have the offense to boost their district title and playoff chances, but the question will be on defense. Can the defense keep the Mustangs offense on the field enough to provide a repeat of 2012? Jersey Village, Cypress Ridge and Cypress Woods are expected to be in the playoff hunt once again in 2013, but both have large questions looming in terms of the defense.
