The Blitz
Last season, the Clear Springs Chargers and Clear Creek Wildcats got plenty of eyeballs focused in their direction and rightfully so, the two teams expected to win at a high level and be a force in the 5A Region III playoff picture. As it turns out , three of the four 24-5A playoff teams were sent packing after the opening round of the playoffs. A year later, the district as whole on the offensive side of the ball is much more experienced, talented and mature. Once again in 2013, the top of the district from an offensive standpoint should come between Clear Springs featuring QB Zach Cripps and junior RB Matthew Guidry and Clear Creek with QB Jarrett Hildreth and RB Kaliq Kokuma. Brazoswood figures to also find itself in the district equation as they also bring back a talented RB duo of Ryan Ross and Malik Goins. Expect the Dickinson Gators and Clear Falls Knights to take a giant leap forward and be a much more productive team in 2013. Clear Falls went through plenty of growing pains in year one as a varsity program, but some bright things are ahead, the question that surrounds the Knights is ho much of an improvement will we see? The reality of a five team logjam is realistic for the district with only for spots available. One thing that is given, offensively, this could be one of the more intriguing districts to keep an eye on for the 2013 season.
