Ex.

27-24 come from behind win over a 2-loss team.
Hardly a dominating display.

Barely enough to win.

Southlake Carroll

2002 16-0 State Champions
2003 15-1 State Runner Up
2004 16-0 State Champions

they did enough, "hardly enough" means 15-1, the one game they hardly did enough to win, that's why they lost. Nobody but you and a few others will only remember the 1or 3 games out of the 47 that they won, the rest of us will remember what you see above, wait, hold on, let me put it again

What does 2003 and 2002 have to do with 2004? Nothing.

I can tell you right now 2003 DLS would have smoked 2003 Carroll. 2002 DLS would have been a good game with Carroll, probably a bit closer.

It was noted that SLC did not do enough to win. I'm showing Concha
that they have been doing more then enough to win.

"Hardly enough to win" means their only loss in three years.
regardless of what the scores where. His team has one good year
and he wants to be #1 in the nation. His team has done there best and
had an awesome season. but to say SLC didn't do enough to win? makes me want to go hmmmmmm... I've seen a lot of games only won by 1 point, that means a victory, a victory is doing enough to win. Regardless of what happen
during the game. Otherwise it would'nt be called a game.

TF,

I did not say that SLC didn't do enough to win. Reading is fundamental. I said they barely won some games and were within a score of losing them. Colerain was never in that situation. Colerain could have refrained from scoring in the second half of every game they played and they still would have won.

Seems to me like to great high school teams.... Stats do not mean a thing until you can compare both teams against the same opponents or they both play each other (even then, there will still be would've, could've, should've). Until then, There will be 16 or so undefeated high school in the USA.... All great teams... and everybody will have their own arguments...

until then we all have our own opinions... and it will always been just that... An Opinion....

???

I agree that Texas posters who said DLS was not #1 "just because everyone says so" are wrong in trying to use that to justify SLC as #1. But what I am saying is the same goes for Cali posters. They can't try to justify DLS as #1 and then turn around and ridicule Texas posters when they try to use the same arguement.

That is why I have tried to look at and use stats to back up any claims. The problem with stats is they can be arranged in a way that looks good for what ever team your talking about. So what I have done is look at all the number and what everyone says about each team and make a judgement/decision in my head. I believe SLC is the best team in the nation.

I agree that Colerain is a very good team that was dominate in Ohio this year. I also think if Colerain had played SLC schedule they would have won out, but have no where near the numbers they showed.

2002 16-0 State Champions
2003 15-1 State Runner Up
2004 16-0 State Champions

only you and a few others will remember "Barely enough to win" and it want
matter.... The way this thread is going, we will still be giving our opinion's about what could've, would've should've....

They are all great teams.

The :busted: smiley refers to the ones who used that argument against DLS but now use it for themselves, it wasnt directed at you Gambit.

All Im saying is when people got all over DLS and Cali people justified it with the above reasoning, Texas fans did not accept it, yet now they expect everyone accept the same reasoning on why their Texas team is #1?

Its a double standard. I find it amusing. Thats why I said :busted:

1) Colerain's offense scored as much as SLC's. And they did it almost undoubtedly with their starters out of the game earlier.

2) Colerain jumped out early and had every game over by the half if not before. That's every game.

3) It would appear that SLC should have felt threatened on at least three occasions.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Conch, you have had your closing arguments. Cased closed. SLC is the clear winner! on past success, future success, strength of schedule ,strength of team, fame, tradition, blood lines(many dallas cowboy sons playing on team) not to mention rich area and program, they got it all, top notch coaches, (I ought to be a salesman) Team seems to be able to adapt to any situation, including the big possibility of your team having a blemished national record of 15-1. And not because I say so because the pros do. And I am not talking about cal preps who now have col#1. They had Abilene rated #1 above Colerain before SLC beat them. I like cal preps but I saw alot of inaccuratesies. For instance they had an improved El paso team ranked way above many texas pwrs, And 4a texarkana barely loses to a stout super star team ECA at ECA I believe and gets bumped back over a 1000 teams.(pretty exspensive 3 point loss) Just kidding about the closing arg.. just keeping it stired up going in to off season..booo.. And by the way FYI, many times in the last three years SLC had good opponents down say 49-7 at the half and where the final score was like 56-7 so dont let the scores obscure your ohio view. I know Southlake is the beeeesssttt... :argue: :crying: :coolthumb:

on past success Irrelevant to this year

future success What will the Mega Millions lottery numbers be for Friday?

strength of schedule This year, yes. But SLC's stats were not comparable to Colerain's, even when SLC's tough games are thrown out.....

strength of team For 2004, I highly doubt it

fame OK, but what does this have to do with being a better team in 2004?

tradition Colerain has been quite good for years now, but again, this doesn't make one better than the other for 2004

blood lines(many dallas cowboy son playing on team) Please. Got any d-linemen who can bench 500 lbs? A RB that can bench 400?

rich, top notch coaches(I ought to be a salesman) able to adapt to any situation This is ridiculous.

Since when does a coaches financial situation have anything to do with how good the team is?

I dont know about the coaches financial situation. I was talking about the program and area and how not only do I think SLC is a stronger team. I think they are better in all the little things that get you ranked. As far as the guys statement about one guy who who benches 485,this a team sport so there may have to be a little adjustment there during the game,no sweat. Col stats and strength are top knotch, exactly the kind of games SLC thrives for,a challenge.I would love to see that one on national tv. I doubt SLC would be flat in that one.

All great teams have close games, regardless... Look at USC this year, they were ranked number one all season, just like SLC.... they had to play everbody at their best otherwise they would've lost that ranking. Look, does this sound familiar - USC battled against 6-6 UCLA and barely won... But that doesn't mean USC doesn't deserve the #1 ranking at that time, USC still won the game. Not to mention, USC is suppose to have the best defense in the Pac 10.. Hmmmmmm
Sounds familiar....

Stats don't matter.... it's the game itself... and we will never know about SLC and Colerain... What could've, would've, should've... They are both great teams, Congratulations to both of them.

We can say this about our Team, Can you?
