4A Wylie played San Diego Mira Mesa last year in the East Texas Kickoff Classic.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

While that is fantastic, Mira Mesa is noweher near a representation of Cali Football.

Just heard about this today, and you better believe that I'll be there. Columbus is going to be jumping that saturday. Who ever lines up over Conner Smith expect them to be a nonfactor.

Interesting. I am planning on getting up to the Texas-tOSU game, CatFan has promised me great seats at face value....

Wonder where that game will be? Maybe the Crew's stadium. I imagine it would be hard to see both. Can you imagine the papers if the teams from one state or the other sweep?

Hopefully, they plan this well so fans can see both games. The OSU/TX game will be an 8EST kickoff, so they can start the HS game at 12, 1 or 2 at Crew Stadium and easily accomodate fans that want to see both events

Wow, pretty cool.

First thing that comes to mind...

What are Tyler Lee's travel cost going on the road to Ohio?

Is that Florida game home or away?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

"And all of the expenses associated with Robert E. Lee's participation would be funded by an outside marketing group."

Other that that, I don't know.

I hope people realize that this should be fun for the fans and no one starts to determine the overall worth of a state based on a single game. That being said, Lee's gonna kill 'em!!!!

On a related note, I read on another board that Lee's QB was arrested for something(I believe alcohol related). can anyone confirm/deny this. Also was he a senior?

Thanks

The game more than likely will be at Crew Stadium on Friday night...the day before the Texas-OSU game.

We will definitely be at the game!

We were already planning to go to the Texas-OSU game...........this game will just add icing to the cake.

We'll be staying in Cleveland and driving up for the game!

Oh yeah..I keep forgetting Cleveland is south of Columbus.

I'm hoping that Tyler Lee takes their band and drill teams.

WACO: Cleveland is NORTH of Columbus. Cleveland is on Lake Erie with Canada on the other side. Columbus is 2 1/2 hours south along I-71 in the dead center of the state. Cincinnati (Where Colerain is) is another 2 hours South of Columbus along the Ohio River with Kentucky right on the other side.

Columbus is SOUTH of Cleveland, that's why you need to drive down for the game.

In regard to the band/drill team I know that when Lamar went to Florida a few years back they did not go. It would be great to have up there.

With the announcement so far ahead of the game...there is no reason why Tyler ISD and people around the state can't pitch in and get them up there. Or, even the band raising some of the money.

I really expect Tyler Lee to win. Colerain just loses too much on both sides of the ball. Now i will be there and support my cards but i dont think they can win.

This was posted by a Colerian fan on another board:

"the defense returns Cobrani Mixon, Micheal Schiedt, Tyler Moeller, Eugene Lemmons and Calvin Dixon and big time D1 recruite (he is a junior to be) Eugene Clifford.

the offense returns Eric Ornella, Connor Smith, Brandon Wyatt, Kyle Lumpkin, Rico Booker and Terrance Schearer.

That is 12 starters returning...Colerain only had 15 returning starters last season.

of that group...Mixon, Moeller, Clifford, Ornella, Smith and Schearer are division 1 college recruits.

Don't count Colerain out. They will not 'dominate' the way they did last year in terms of suffocating defense...but when you score 49 points a game, its ok to give up 17.

Colerain will be fine. What they have going for them is a "system". They start running the triple option at a very early age, so when kids come in to replace ones that left they know what role they have to fill. Similar to what DLS has going, but to a lesser extent.

Colerain's biggest concern is going to be finding a QB to replace Goodman. He won't be expected to duplicate Goodman's performance... But nevertheless, he's going to have to make the right decisions with the ball.

Lee should have several concerns. How prepared will they be for the option? It's not something that can be duplicated by scout teams in practice. I also wonder about overconfidence. Do their kids share the common Texas attitude that if it aint Texas football, it's just a big joke.

I imagine their coach will preaching the overconfidence thing for a LONG time and that could be a factor, especially if they wipe the floor w/the team from Florida. The two teams(FL and OH) could be vastly different in ability and that would be a dangerous conclusion to arrive at.

I think that Lee may be a little freaked out by the long travel. I think it CAN have a big effect on a HS team.

Not certain of the offenses that Lee has played, but they do play in a very competitve district to say the least.

As far as the band/drill team is concerned, keep in mind that many bands travel to an out of state competition during the year that costs a lot of $$$. There are also certain rules in some districts that prohibit them from going on too many trips etc. That may come into play.

This should set up some interesting conversations. I can already hear certain posters from each state getting their chests pumped up.

Hey Commish, do you ever believe a 4A team from TX will play against another state?

Anyone else can answer this too, of course. ^_^

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

With corporate sponsorship becoming so common I believe we could see many more of these out-of-state match-ups in the future
