I am currently watching DLS vs Long Beach Poly from 2001 and these two teams are what the number 1 team in the country would look like. These two teams have so many stars on them that its ridiculous. Hershal Dennis, Marcedes Lewis, Darnell Bing, Manuel Wright, Derrick Jones and the list just goes on and on for Poly. Derick Landri, Maurice Drew, Willi Gasper, Matt Gutierriez and the list goes on and on for DLS.
I caught some of that game too... wasn't for sure which game I was watching...what year. didn't have time to watch all of it... but it looked like a good game.

I might be wrong on this but I think the 2001 LBP team had something like 21 D1 players. DLS had, I think, 3 or 4. I was at that game about 6 yards deep in the endzone. But then again that's why Bushnell makes binoculars. That was some game. Maurice Drew, who is now a star at UCLA, scored all four t.d's for DLS. BTW, he was a junior when they played that year. The crowd was a little hostile as was reported by not too bad. That was the first time that a #1 and a #2 team in the nation actually played.
