Eventually I hope to do a strength of schedule and power rating comparing all of the 4A State champion teams as I have posted over on the 5A forum for the 5A champs but as a start, here are the full championship seasons of every 4A State Champion since 1980 except for Huntsville '80, Willowridge '82 and Sweetwater '85 as I still have a handful of game scores to find before I have their complete seasons.

As always, nice work WOS.

Figures show nice representation for the DFW area, generally in 4A we think of Reg II when mentioning DFW but some of the best in Reg I also reside in the DFW area.

well region IV has a record of futility but at least calallen can claim dominance to that haha. Dallas area schools have been great, only east texas schools have given em good runs. its a lil different in 5A. lots of teams in region IV have won i believe

its kind of neat that ennis got 5 in a 6 year period. 1999-2002 they got 4 straight, then in 2004 they got their 5th. hopefully many more to come!

Region Champs in the 2nd largest classification back to 1951 added...

Region IV's showing looks a little bit better once you go back past 1980 but not much better.... the Region IV winning percentage in state championship games back to 1951 is 20% (4-16) with all 4 wins happening in a 6 year period.

Region I representatives have the highest winning percentage in state finals at 70% (21-9). Region I and Region III both have 21 titles each, yet Region III has made 15 more appearances in the finals than Region I.

Congrats to Alamo Heights for ending the 29 year jinx

They are the first Region IV team to win a 4A State Championship (or the equivalent prior to 1980) since 1977!!

Congrats to La Marque on State Title #5!!

That's the first title in any classification for the Greater Houston Area since 2003....

...and with this one you've pulled Region III into the lead for most 4A State Titles in the modern era with 22 ahead of Region I's 21 and Region II's 20.
