Extremely good critical reading OregonDLSFAN,Exporter,
Can the Conservative people in Mass. and Oregon stay or does everyone have to leave?
You asked if Mass. and Oregon are expelled from the Union- may the people stay.
Well after some deep thought , I say YES! ........... BUT................
................only if they migrate to Rhode Island or Maine or Alaska. They will loose their right to vote in Federal Elections though.
On third thought .......Lets give the population of these two states the country of Mexico and move all of the Mexican population to Mass and Oregon.

Actually, the origin of soccer is not known, if fact, there were many different variations of it, dating back to Japan in about 700 BC.As I remember a form of soccer or football was first played in England. Roman Garrisons from two neighboring towns , usually less than 20 miles apart wold start with a skull of an enemy at the halfway mark between the towns. One rule they had was that they couldn't put their hands on the skull, so they kicked it. The winner was the team who kicked that skull into the opponents town. There were sometimes as many as 500 on a team, they kicked in relay fashion if the opponents didn't lay them low with a big rock. Yep, it was a bloody "game". The winners were given a big celebration dinner along with lots of grog. At that time the game was FASCIST-INSPIRED.
The origin of soccer in England is not known, but it is believed to be from two sources, harastum, a rough Roman game, and koura, a Berber tradition.
Koura was a game where peasants would compete for the head of a sacrificial animal, and whoever "won" it, would bury it in there field to ensure a bountiful harvest.
The Roman game did in fact used parts of animals. Whether they in fact used the heads of people is debated, many places say they used heads, but many other places say they used bull's bladders, while some say they used the heads of pigs. The game was rough, like american football is, but I am not sure how that relates to communism.
The word "football" originates from England, but the actual game was started in other places. Versions of soccer were played from South America, to Alaska, to the Persians, to early European civilazations.
The game as we know it was created in 1863, when England's Football Association set forth official rules.
But anyways, it is still not known where or when football (soccer) was played.
To say it is communist is inaccurate, because it is not known where it began. I am not saying it is not communist, just saying there is no proof to support that belief right now.

That was a well written piece, Vike! You showed that you did some research and thinking. I congratulate you on your effort. Thank You.
That you have an affinity for that game is evident. Some people just love lacross, some like to play Hearts ( with cards), some like Frizzby, and some don't like to play anything. Possibly one reason that soccer is popular in the 2ed and 3rd-world nations is that the cost of equipment is not high at all. In Africa you can see a gang of teenagers wearing only shorts ( no shoes) playing some form of that game. All they need is a ball and an open space to play. I did see them.
None of your research touched on the contention that Soccer is a Communist-inspired game did it? A long time ago I was priviledged to see post-war Japanese kids playing.....they were playing ( or practising) Baseball. That country seemed to be enthralled with Baseball. It was a Fascist country before and during WW II. Later they evolved into a Democratic nation. But just across the water in Korea the kids were running around with a ball and kicking it as if they were playing soccer, later they did play soccer. Korea WAS a Communist country.
I will interject this point. Size of the players is not nearly as important in soccer as it is in Basketball or Football. The countries that produce the small people can play.
So in conclusion, may I reiterate two of the main ideas?
1. The cost of equipment for soccer is cheap. A ball is all they need {+ space}. Third-world countries can afford a ball.
2. Korea was a Communist country - I saw kids playing some form of soccer. Japan is not and was not a Communist country - they did not play soccer.
I did like your post. Thanks for the careful research. Do it again sometime.
** P.S. One thing I just HATE is to see a football player wearing a Baseball Cap during a Football Game. Truthfully, I would like to take them off those turncoats and throw all of the Baseball Caps into a duffel bag. The very idea! Wearing a Baseball Cap at a Football Game! ( as Chester , on Gunsmoke" would say.....Gee Whilikers Mr. Dillon- What's wrong with those men?) That Stuff didn't Start until AFTER TITLE IX !
And yes I know someone will say, but they are keeping the SUN out of their eyes......POOR BABIES !

Also, what does the size of people have to do with communism?
Lastly, how in the world do you see a correlation between Title IX and baseball caps???
Not one of your more well written and thought out posts. You seem to be taking giant, unsubstantiated leaps. Build me a bridge if you can.

I think I've figured it out.Exporter, sometimes you just leap off the deep end! Couldnt it be just coincidence that pre-communist Korea played soccer and pre-democratic Japan played baseball? How can you just leap from that little inncident to soccer being communist? How do you know that there werent SOME kids in korea playing baseball or SOME in Japan playing soccer?
Also, what does the size of people have to do with communism?

Exporter is taking us for a ride. He's trying to get a rise out of us.
He's throwing this stuff out to get our reaction.
We fell for it, but now we are onto him.

Would you like to see Miss America wearing a Football helmet as she accepted her crown? WAKE UP AMERICA !
The guy who said I said that the size of someone is/was relavent to him being a Communist is either not reding vey well OR he is out in right field....he can't FIND Left Field. I said size IS NOT so important in the game of soccer as it is in Basketball or Football. If your gonna' shoot me ...at least use the right BULLET.
On TV I see some adult whackos wearing Football Helmets in the stands. How many of you agree with me?

you said soccer was related to communism and countries of generally smaller people play soccer. Therefore I assumed a connection being made between the stature of the population and communism. Pardon me if i misunderstood.Oh my. Coyote Golf.
When I said I hate to see a football player wearing a Baseball cap ...........I meant on the SIDELINE DURING A GAME ....A FOOTBALL GAME. ....they are not combing their hair! ....... Good Night Irene, fellas.......dont you see the sacrilidge(sp). You don't see a BASEBALL PLAYERS DURING A BASEBALL GAME (IN THE DUGOUT) WEARING A BLINKING FOOTBALL HELMET DO YOU ? ( Blinking represents an explicative).

I guess I'll take a shot at this.1. I like HEB KETCHUP on my eggs.
2. I think soccer is a Communist-inspired Game.
3. I say if you don't sweat doing it - then it's NOT a sport. The Austin Am. Statesman gave that as the definition for a sport in 1958.
4. I like to see "hot dogs" and blowhards fall on their faces.
5. I think Rush Limbaugh has a great research staff.
6. I wish Massachusetts and Oregon would be EXPELLED from the United States.
7. I like a low-scoring football game- decided in the last 4 minutes.
8. I do admire the disipline of the Roman Army.
9. I say President Nixon was just the man for the times,a great foriegn affairs man.
10. I have two military heros, Gen. Patton and Adm. Nimitz. Sgt. Rhodes comes in a close third!
11. The football tradition of the University of Texas Longhorns supersedes any and all of the other Texas college football traditions.
In my mind these are not controversial. But, I am curious who thinks they are!
1. I don't like eggs unless they're mixed in a bakery product or fried rice. Ketchup is for fish, shrimp, fries, onion rings and burgers.
2. I don't like soccer......period. I don't care who inspires or inspired it.
3. You don't sweat much in pool, but I like it.
4. I like to see blowhards go down also. This especially means Yankee and Braves fans.
5. I think Rush is great man.....period. And I don't care if he gets his facts himself or gets them fed to him. Just as long as he has the facts.
6. I say with the exception of Arnold and Maria, expell the Kennedy family and thier followers from the United States. That should solve a multitude or problems. In fact, make sure they're expelled from the Western Hemisphere. Tell Arnold that Maria has to go to them, not them come to her to visit. If we can expell, throw NY out while you're at it. Perferably to some remote Pacific island.
7. Ditto, but a blowout in favor of your team is always nice.
8. They were tough.
9. One of my dearest friends used to say Nixon did what every president had ever done, he just got caught. It's funny how we strung him up, but wouldn't go the whole 10 yards with Klinton.
10. No military heros except possibly our pastors son who is in Iraq as we speak.
11. Hook 'Em HORNS!!

Take this for what's it's worth. BTW, I'm not jerking a chain here. If a chain was jerked, mine was. But I'm not here. I'm just rambling about what I was told.
I knew a man who claimed he once worked on a project where they were able to ignite the oxygen atom in water. IOW's burning water. He claimed he saw it done and that a way to set the oceans on fire was set up. He claimed there is a line that leads to both the Pacific and Atlantic and if ever this doomsday weapon went off, the only way it could be stopped before reaching the oceans was a nuclear bomb set at each inlet.
Sounds too "out there" for me and this guy was a little crazy, but who knows?
