My early favorite would be Brazil, but, hey, what's new?

the german national team or german soccer? The german national team hasn't won a cup of late.....but making the finals in 02 and semi's in 06 isn't too shabby. if only the us could accomplish such.Well, I would love to see Die Nationalmannschaft of Deutchland win it, German soccer has been in decline for a few years. We'll see how the success at Germany '06 will affect German soccer.

Well it's tough to stay on top of the world football stage, unless you are brazil who seems to win a cup every other appearance. but even brazil seems to struggle when they are heavily favored to win it all. But even if they surprised many, the german team has done very well to stay close to the top teams. There are some teams that dominate thruout the entire world cup qualifying process . They go into the world cup favored to win. Then they fall on their face. So what germany has done should be commended.German soccer has been in decline, as a whole. But, they had several young players make their name in their run last summer. The national team has over-achieved (in the eyes of many) the past two World Cups. Germany will always be near the top, but, they have had some bad times lately. They wanted Klinsmann's head in Germany until he surprised the country in the World Cup with his new style of fussbal.

lets look at some smaller teams that could do well and are among the nations best, say little ghana for example... they are always so close, but just always fall short...

I'm not up to speed on this one. I know germany won the cup in 1990, so how many more do they have?i really don't think germany has done that well, yes you have to give credit for the finals/semi's appearances, but overall is the program as good as it used to be? as for the US thing, we just need some more confidence and support from the country (not likely to happen soon, but mabe...).
