I got San Francisco 49ers FROM ALLEY - OOP this way"
The 49ers had a very tall tight end (about 6'6" tall, a Black guy) When they were in the Red Zone they liked to throw a "dew drop" ( high arcing pass) to him. He could jump pretty well and he'd out jump the def. back. ALL THE NEWS WRITERS followed the San Francisco Examiner after they nemed it the "ALLEY-OOP" PASS.
Alley-OOP was a comicstrip character who lived in a cave and carried a club. He was supposed to be a "cave man"!!
