Local/School History:
Milford was established in 1854, making it one of the oldest towns in Ellis County. A two story stone school house was built in 1853, making it the first school in Ellis County, and burned during the Civil War. Milford was incorporated in 1888. By 1892, Milford had two schools, Mollie Poe's Private Lone Star Institute and Milford Academy. In 1902 Texas Presbyterian College for women was establish and closed in 1929. The yearbook of Texas Presbyterian College was the Larkspur (1917). In 1939, C. B. Williams was superintendent of Milford schools. On December 21, 1939 work began on the WPA project to build a new high school, athletic field, black high school, and demolition of the old high school and field. Currently the Milford school district has just over 200 students.

Note: On December 21, 1939 work began on the WPA project to build a new high school, athletic field, black high school, and demolition of the old high school and field.
1940 to Current - Bulldog Field or Horton Field 700 S. Main Street (Hwy 77) south side of town ( Grass field; 250 capacity )
Note: This is an on-going project, any corrections, comments, additions or scores from games are greatly appreciated. Hey Bulldogs fans, if any one has any old high school yearbooks, it would be nice to get the football scores out of those old yearbooks.
Thanks, kbo
