Hidalgo High School (32-AAA) has just added new turf to their stadium this summer. I think its pretty good for a 3A school to have turf already. Ahead of many bigger schools. It is much darker than Boise States' blue turf. Its Navy Blue. As you can see the stadium is still under construction.

Navy Blue!!?? Now that turf is surely going to be hot for a 7:30 kickoff in September way down there in the sub-tropics!

Actually its not that hot down here at that time. It gets a little humid every now and then but not hot.

It looks nice, but I would prefer to stick to the "normal" turf color..........green is just fine for me thanks! Would love for our 4A school to have a new stadium and hopefully soon........BUT NOT WITH that color turf.

I agree! It's nice don't get me wrong just needs to be green. Football fields (grass) are green.

Yeah, I prefer regular grass or just green turf. Besides, if the team's home uniforms match the field, I'd think that would prove detrimental or confusing to the team, but I guess we'll find out this season.

Though it's not my favorite field design, I will say that it looks nice and thankfully isn't nearly as blinding as Boise State's.

I figured the football purists would be up at arms about this. :D

At any rate, I think this is just fine, and as it long as it doesn't become too much of a deterrent to the opposition, it should be all right.

It's not real grass, so why should it have to be green anyways. I actually like it.

I wonder if birds in the area will confuse the field for some sort of pond and dive into it head first. It happens at Boise State...

And I'm sure that some sort of goofy nickname will stick. The Aqua Bowl? Sea World South? Waterworld II: Mariner's Revenge? Make it happen, Hidalgo!

Oh, I know. It's just something that I've always heard said about the playing field there. Right up there with "Pop rocks and Coke will kill you" in terms of believability, though.

I never heard of birds doing dives into the blue turf and thought that would be awesome to see...was sure it would be on the net somewhere. Thanks for ruining my dreams HSFtBallFan! :ranting3:

Thanks for the feedback.

Whether everybody likes it or not, the turf is already on and nothing or nobody is going to change that. I know some of you like it and some of you dont but that is your opinion and i respect that. The students and the community of Hidalgo are proud of our new field and are also proud to be one of the first schools to be original and break out of the "Green Turf" trend that everyone feels that they have to follow. I, for one, like the turf.

To Everyone Reading This Message: Im not being stubborn, belligerent, or provocative. Im not trying to start an argument or anything but i felt i had to get my opinion across.
