3 - number of NFL players DLS has currently
5 - number of NFL players DLS has alltime
5 - number of NFL players Lake Highlands (Texas) has currently (Lake Highlands is not even very good really)
You don't get it - DLS is not dependent upon talent who will be in the NFL someday. 20% of USC's National Championship team went o-fer against DLS in high school. DLS linemen at 6'1" 215 ALWAYS dominate future NFL linemen who are 40-80 lbs heavier. It IS the system & coaching, not recruiting, or anything else. Superior coaching and execution at the high school level win over "future NFLers" every day at DLS. DLS never trailed, and dominated Long Beach Poly in a home/home series. LBP has put more players in the NFL than any other high school in the nation.
I am not very impressed with the opponents DLS has faced. See my note below about DLS never having even played a Texas team.
Furthermore, I am the one who posted the story above & started this thread. I am very impressed with DLS's program and specifically Bob Ladouceur. I will give them & him the props they deserve. It's a question of how much props they deserve. I posted this story because I found it interesting and admirable.
17 - margin of victory for Longview (Texas) vs. 2003 DLS opponent ECA (Evangel Christian Academy, Louisiana) Longview 43, ECA 26 note: ECA was home team & Longview went on to lose in the first round of the playoffs. You see, they played Texas teams
17 - margin of victory for DLS vs. ECA (DLS 27, ECA 10) note: ECA was the road team
DLS dominated from the get go, sat on the clock in the 2nd half, and took a knee for the final 1:45 at the 1 yard line. ECA stated that they were the best team they had ever faced.
Like I said, Longview was a first round exit. Longview beat ECA the year before as well. The point I was making is, a good Texas team that is far from the best Texas had to offer whipped up on a common opponent of DLS's. You can look at that two ways. Either, ECA was not nearly as good as in years past, thus meaning DLS strength of schedule is weaker. Or, the fact that Longview was not (far from) the best Texas had to offer last year, means the best would have destroyed ECA, making DLS's 17 point margin look like a close game. Reality is, it's a little bit of both. I know what happened in the ECA DLS game. If you look above, you will see the story from the game posted.
151 - number of wins DLS has during "the streak"
5 - number of UNANIMOUS National Championships DLS has during the streak.
4 - number of consecutive national championships DLS has during the streak.
You must be a really big fan of NCAA football. You love polls to decide your national championship. There is a reason why it is called the mythical national championship. At least that's what we call it here in Texas. Truth is, DLS had the streak for many years before winning the "National Championship". With polls, the first place team has to lose to lose their first place spot. I would have to suggest that, because of the streak itself they have won those championships. How many voters have never even seen DLS play?
0 - number of times DLS has played a team from Texas during "the streak"
0 - number of wins Texas teams have vs. DLS during the streak.
0 - number of times DLS has played a team from Texas during "the streak"
0 - number of times DLS has played a team from Texas alltime
0 - number of times Texas teams have played DLS alltime.
0 - number of times DLS has played a team from Texas alltime
Did I mentioned DLS has never played a Texas team, ever? In Texas, we fear no one. We also don't feel we have to prove ourselves to anyone either.
Never up, never in. You will never win if you don't get on the field. Looks like your excuses are well prepared.
You will never win (against a team from Texas) if you don't get on the field. Looks like your excuses are made up on the fly.
DLS has played teams from Hawaii to Louisiana, from San Diego to Seattle (04).
If you're so good, challenge them & end the streak. Until then, they will continue to be the unanimous #1 in the nation. At least Lobofan says Bring 'em on! That's what DLS loves a challenge - and they haven't missed in 12 years.
You must have missed that last part. Here it is again. Read it this time. "In Texas, we fear no one. We also don't feel we have to prove ourselves to anyone either."
Super B - big hat, no cattle.
Whatever. Remember, you are the defensive one, not me. I could care less what people think about DLS. I have my opinion. Nothing anyone says will change that. If DLS steps up & plays a team from Texas, we will see, & it will be settled on the field. Until then, it remains a matter of debate.

1. "balls" to debate? Spare me, it takes no balls to get on an anonymous internet message board and beat your hollow chest. If you think that is balls, you must think that chess is a contact sport.
2. DLS has the best coaching staff ever assembled in High School football. Specifically Ladauceur and Eidson. Ladauceur is 5-time USA Today coach of the year, and inducted in the High School Football Hall of Fame. They do not recruit, offer scholarships, or draw from all over California. They are an outstanding, but modest private school. Their focus is excellence in all aspects of student life. They are not even a "football school". That must really chap your asses. That a non-"football school" gets more national attention than all Texas schools combined. Yeah, if I were in your shoes, I'd be pissed too.
3. I guess until somebody knocks them off their perch, they will continue to be #1. Suggest you get in line, it is a long line getting longer. If you don't, you'll all be doing this same whining 10 years from now. They are the unanimous champions. If you want some of their limelight, suggest you get off your butts. At least the teams from Mater Dei (2 time National Champions), Long Beach Poly (25 D1 recruits - most ever on one squad), St. Louis, HI (20 or so time state champs) and Bellevue, WA (3-time state champs) had the "balls" (to use your term) to step up to the plate and take them on. Every team that their **** waxed by DLS said they would end the streak, just as you do. Those teams are now the biggest DLS fans, as they saw they are the real deal. You'll never get it until you see it with your own eyes. I'm not suggesting you are dumb, just ill-informed.
4. DLS ranking is due to the fact that every pollster has seen them. Yes polls are tough. Don't you find it curious that EVERY POLL has DLS at #1 - EVERY-SINGLE-POLL!!! Not just one, two, but EVERY ONE!! Wow, what an amazing coincidence. #1 is the only place that they all agree. How has every pollster seen them? National TV (ESPN). Major regional coverage (Fox Sports SoCal) avail by satellite around the US.
5. To judge a team by their Frosh and JV teams is unwise. The DLS system takes them as average freshmen, and turns them into a machine of a team by their Jr. and Sr. years. DLS Frosh and JV teams have never been dominant. That should suggest to you that DLS is not taking the best talent in Calif. They develop it. I assure you that if Ladauceur and Eidson were at a Texas school, that school would be #1, not DLS. It is ALL ABOUT Lad & Eidson.
Now, waiting to hear you tell me about how everything is Texas is bigger...

DLS is the only school worthy of bieng ranked nationally that many polsters ever see more than maybe one highlight a year, it is only natural that a team with so many wins is numbver one, they are the only school many have seen. I doubt many polsters could even say which part of Texas, that Galena Park is in, but I bet they all know exactly where DLS is, and could name several of their coaches.

Football is king in Texas. The best teams in the nation will always be in Texas until some other state decides to meet one of us in a neutral location and duke it out. Some tried and most failed.
Did you see what Longview did to Evangel Christian? The same would have happened to DeLaSalle.
When DeLaSalle can stop playing cupcake teams (come on, schedule a TOUGH Texas team for crying out loud!!) and schedule teams at the caliber of Ennis, GPNS, Ryan, and Longview, they will get more recognition from us high school football analysts.
Until then, DLS can WOW(!!!) people with their little streak, but I will always call 'fraud' until they play a TOP Texas team.
I would also have to disagree with your analysis of DLS ALWAYS(!!) being #1 in everyone's poll. Two polls (can't remember off the top of my head) had Ennis ranked #1, followed by DLS last year. Ennis got knocked out of the playoffs because we actually have competition down here.
I guess some people are actually waking up.....
Don't be surprised if more pollsters wake up next year as well.

As for Elvis, this started as a nice discussion and you and some members have let it get away. This trash talk is rediculous. Yes, DLS has many accolades and would appear to be the best team. A streak like that will do it for you. Mr. Elvis, Ive begun to look at this forum as my home and I dont like people spraying crap in my house, especially out of towners. Consider this a warning. This was a very civil post, as should be on this board. And it will be the last one if you wanna keep taking crap. If you want to continue a reasonable discussion, go ahead.

I think Burnet could have smacked DLS depending on DLS' running game.

Waco?I'd like for the DLS coach to schedule any of the following teams for next year:
Until then, they don't cut it with me.
- Lufkin
- Tyler Lee
- John Tyler
- Longview
- Galena Park North Shore
- Southlake Carroll
- Ennis
- Waco
- Temple
- Any 4A or 5A state champ from last year
Where is Arl. Lamar, Trinity, Dallas Carter etc.... Lamar did beat Temple, and soundly too( 17 points). No offense meant, but why those teams?
I would not have a list of about 10 schools DLS should play, cause there are probably 50+ schools in Texas that could beat DLS.
