i complemented Slpybear the Bullfan on his comments... back bearcat on her position of what was going on.. then I gave a Jacket2000 a new ***hole for his lack of leadership on the board.
My rant on 3ADownLow.... Why?

I, for one, think the whole thing is just plain ridiculous. It has been hashed and re-hashed.....the horse is DEAD!!
The arguing going on now about it is more childish than the prank (completely harmless one, at that) EVER was!!
GROW UP!!!
It's a freakin message board for goodness sakes!!

This board has been THE most successful HSFB board in the state of Texas, and probably one of the best in the nation.
There was a HUGE practical joke played on our website. JOKE. Not only were some of the members in on it, but also some of the administrators. We are soon to be getting new software and this was a fun way in the offseason to play around before the switch.
I am completely amazed at how indignant and pompous some members are acting after the joke was over. Most of these posters I have seen on the Downlow for a while. Most have said many times that if you don't like a topic, just ignore it. And most of these 'disgruntled' posters have enjoyed participating in off-season, sensless, fun and games topics themselves.
I have tried to be friendly to all on this site. I hope I have come across that way to all. If I haven't, I truly am sorry.
Here is the tough part... If anyonewants to leave because...
a.) They feel this site is a joke.
b.) They feel this site is good but others say it is a joke.
c.) They are still angry because they were fooled by the joke.
...then adios. Good luck and see you down the road. If that is as strong as your membership is to this site, then please do not feel obligated to stay. I do not mean that in a rude way, just saying what needs to be said.
If your membership is not strong enough to weather a practical joke in the offseason, then it is probably just a matter of time before something else offends you or attracts you to a different site.
If you feel the need to leave or resign, then there are probably many factors in that decision, not just one. And it is probably better to go.
This great website will continue to be a great community because of its great community.

Slpybear, I applaud you and I agree with you 100%. This site and mine are probably two best sites dedicated to Texas HS Football. It has taken Matt, Gobbla, bearcat and Jacket2000 more energy to keep this site going than most of you will ever dream of. If you want to complain about service, dont do it in front of them or myself. If you think for one second the five of us do not care about how far we take our sites.. oooh you are surely mistaken.

I have a few things to say about the incidents last night.
First of all, I understand those who got upset at the dishonesty associated with it. But I cant think for the life of me, of a practical joke that is not dishonest. It's what makes it a joke.
Now I'm not defending anyone, because sometimes jokes just aren't funny. Yes, this was a great website. Guess what, it still is a great website. We had one night where some joksters got together and pulled a prank, and it was funny to some and not so funny to others, and everyone has the right to form their own opinion of it. Whatever your feelings, it amazes me that you could be so quick to dismiss this board as a joke and no longer want to visit it. Alot of hard work has gone into this site, and yes some got carried away. I doubt it would ever happen again considering the backlash.
All I've heard is how much more you like this board than others, how happy you are here, but one night something happens that upsets you and you are ready to leave?
PPHS has apologized if he went over the top. We havent heard from Matt, but I am sure if he knew how upset some of you were he would feel bad as well. I do know that nobody involved meant any harm, and I do know that several involved feel GREAT REMORSE at this time for upsetting any of you. That was never anyone's intention.
People make mistakes. We aren't perfect, any of us. If they were claryvoyant, and could have seen how upset some of you would have been, it never would of happened. Unfortunately, nobody here has the power to predict the future or the outcome of our actions all the time. All we can do is learn from our mistakes. That is unfortunate but it's also what makes us human.
People make errors in judgement all the time. And because it upset some people, I'd consider this an error in judgment. Is that enough to cause you to never return? Is one error in judgment and misplaced prank enough to cause you to dismiss this site as a joke, and cause you to no longer want to associate with those whom you considered friends not 48 hours ago?
I don't know the whole story here. I don't know the purpose of the prank, or what started it, and I wasn't involved in its inception. But I myself played along when I got wind of it, as a matter of fact I suggested to someone that we play a "prank" on the pranksters during the whole thing. But that never materialized because in the middle of it all, I discovered that this had upset someone I care a great deal for, and I had participated in it, and it suddenly wasn't so funny anymore.
Never once did it cross my mind that anyone here would be so angry or upset about it that they'd be ready to leave. I just didn't think, like many of the others involved here. Hindsight is 20/20 and I'm sure that doesn't mean much to some of you, but it's all I can offer. I can't erase it or time travel to stop it. So I, too, made an error in judgment last night. And I'm sorry for that.
I will try very hard to think things through more completely and choose my participation in jokes more wisely in the future. I am sure the others involved feel the same way.
That's my apology and that's my comment on this whole ordeal, and if that isn't good enough, then I'm truly sorry, and will miss each of you who chooses to leave.

I have known bearcat since the beginning of this site... lets see.. at least since the days we talked on the pig. She has a right to be just as upset as anyone can be.

Last summer, me and Matt decided that this site had gotten to be alot more work than it was fun. So, we decided to scale it down, since most of the site was the message board anyway. Since then, Ive had some personal issues with it anyway, but now Im just downright embarrassed. This site is somethin' that I used to be pretty damned proud of, but now look at it. Having fun is one thing, but this is just childish. So, call me a party pooper if ya want, but you can keep it. Im done.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jacket, let me tell you something dude. I know for a fact that you were not one of the originals of this site, everyne else here knows it. But thats not an issue. What's important is, you care about this thing. You care just as much as most of the posters here. You care about the image of this site just as much as I care about my own operation. I have spent day and night working my site. I am disappointed in the way you are taking this. You take all your time in to this you can and just because of some silly and stupid prank, you are just going to drop everything and quit. That is not not how a leader should be acting. I know you are embarrassed. It is completely understandable and we are all probably understandably upset. I dont know if its an issue of pride with you or whether its an issue of ego. But I do know that if you up and leave because of this, its showing that you dont know how to handle problems or you dont know what it takes to be a leader.
I dont like to see a site like this go down the drain. Frankly it pisses me off. If this site is going to survive, everyone should realize their mistakes, apologize and everyone should come to a complete understanding on what to expect from each other.

What exactly was the Joke that was played out??

WEll the next thing we know, it is closed! But....it wasn't that guy hacking into the system it was the help of one of the moderators/owners/admin...whatever the heck he his.
That was basically the start of it....no one was hurt by it, but some felt it was childish...maybe it was. I am 40 years old and I thought it was funny!! (Of course, I was in on the joke so I never got bent out of shape about it)!
Evidently another poster was able to get in and change some stuff after it was all over. Don't know much about what happened then, it all went kinda crazy.
Admins were arguing with moderators, people we resigning then popping back up...it was CRAZY!!!
If people would have just accepted it for the joke it was, it would have been find. They get rid of the guy who hacked in yesterday.
It was all blown out of proportion and the whole thing is just ridiculous!!

all the events of last night had NOTHING to do with the practical joke that PPHSFan pulled off. Nothing at all. There were other things that happened after the joke that made people mad, including myself! and that is what has really made Jacket mad...everyone keeps telling him he needs to be able to take a joke and all of that but what he is mad about right now has nothing to do with the joke that was pulled off.
hes mad at the fact that people who have been on the board for less time then me are laughing at my opinion (that i delivered in a calm and collected manner) and dropping "F" bombs in private messages and sending threats. yet...that person who is doing that to me is just playing a "harmless" joke on everybody. THATS JUST ONE EXAMPLE OF MANY

I know I have said alot worse than that when I was mad! (not saying it was right) You gotta let stuff like that roll of of you or you will be a miserable person in life.
You have 2 choices to make, you can rant and rave and seeth over something someone said to you in a private message, or you can read it for what it was and go on.
Anyway, enough of the Dr. Laura crap!
I choose to go on, I wasn't hurt by this, didn't lose my job, didn't lose any friends, (actually, I made quite a few new ones because of it) it really didn't affect my live one way or the other.
It made for a really interesting night on the board though!!

If Jacket is pissed and wants to take his marbles and go home, then so be it. He's the one losing out. A joke is a joke. People need to just get over it and move on. No harm done.
Bottom line is be glad we still have 3ADL to post messages with our friends.

Pardon me for butting into something that is none of my business...We had a 14 yr old kid start a word association thread over there...it took off like wildfire. One of the other posters was tired of it and AS A JOKE said he was gonna close the topic.
WEll the next thing we know, it is closed! But....it wasn't that guy hacking into the system it was the help of one of the moderators/owners/admin...whatever the heck he his.

That was it? That doesn't seem like that big a deal at all. Surely there must be more to this story than that for all these people to be in an uproar?
