Supposedly, the average American watches 4 hours of TV per day. Well, personally (especially during the summer) I watch quite a bit more than that. It's plenty of time to see commercials. Some commercials I think are funny. Others I don't understand. Some, I'm just sick of seeing. Feel free to use this thread to rant about commercials, good or bad, hated or loved.

Right now, I'm gonna rant about the Geico Cavemen.

This was funny...when it first came out. Remember that? Just a family of cavemen watching a Geico commercial that says "So easy a caveman can do it!" Then one of the cavemen says "That is really condesending..."

Then it was funny again when you see the cavemen meeting w/Geico reps.

But now it's just gotten old. I mean, they've been doing this Caveman thing for years. It's time to get a new angle. People are just sick of the cavemen. Now, no matter what they come up w/it's just boring! But can you escape 'em? Nope. Everywhere you turn there's a caveman.

However, I don't make the same argument for the Gecko. I mean, a Gecko w/an accent doing human activities is much more presentable than an unshaven stuck up caveman trying to get his way.

I miss when Gieco had the Taco Bell dog trying to get the same job as the gecko. My wife hates the caveman commercials. They are starting to get a little silly. At first I didn't like the p.c. implications of the commercials, but I just starting looking at them as stupid insurance commercials. Then they got a little funny.

Maybe they should have the cavemen all get together with the gecko for lunch or something and reach some kind of agreement with the cavemen getting good rates on their insurance.

Nah, the cavemen are too stubborn to except that lol. Now, they might have some cheesy thing where the gecko tells them to be proud of who they are...

Insurance commercials do tend to be some of the worst. Used to be a Progressive commercial that drove me up the wall. And freecreditreport .com is so annoying.

The Aflac commercial where they have a goat as the mascot and at the end the boss tries to disguise it as the duck

Right now some of my favorite commercials are those for that sleeping aid with Abe Lincoln, the guy in the diving suit and the beaver with an attitude. Those are a scream.

Abe talking to the man about his dreams: "We just want you back."
The beaver looking at the checker board and pointing at Abe: "He cheats."
Abe to the beaver: "HONEST Abe."

I only get annoyed when I see the same commercial back to back or every commercial time during the same show.

okay, best one ever....

Opens with a guy putting nail polish on his woman's toes. He asks her what she thinks. She says "Looks good, honey." He then adds "No, I think it needs another coat." In comes the announcer's voice saying "Since you're not 'THAT GUY', there's "?" diamonds." (forgot the name of the company)

I crack up everytime I see it.

Hate the commerical where it's not "CO OL" to use cash or checks---card is so much faster and quicker!!!

Whoa! I mean....it's not often that I agree w/somebody 100% on a topic, but you just spoke my words. And do you notice in the one that seems to take place in a mall food court, the woman ON A CELL PHONE is FUMBLING W/HER MONEY and SHE HASN'T EVEN ORDERED OR TAKEN ANYTHING!!!!

But yeah, I'm always the "why not slow down?" guy. I mean, what's the rush other than the ones we make ourselves? (ourselves can also refer to society as a whole, not just one person)

And is anyone else sick of seeing freecreditreport.com commercials? They're frickin' everywhere!! "I'm thinking of a service that's probably a scam... Do you know what it is? (fake look of interest) It's freecreditreport.com and it happens to have one of the most annoying commercials ever!"

A bit disappointed at Whataburger though. I'd have guessed that this being the 3rd time they have their limited-time A1 Thick&Hearty Burger (only one of the greatest Burgers ever 'cept it's a bit thin) that they'd have a new commercial. But no...it's the same one they've been using for years. You know "first things first."

I just had to rant about the duh duh commercial by hyundai. It is annoying and pointless. I especially hate the guy at the end acting over emotional and screaming duh. The cars are not even cool. I hate that it was aired right now during the monday night game.

Ok, so I may hate some of the Geico commercials, but the Gecko is just too cool for words.

And I sometimes like the Sonic Commercials w/the two stooges.

But I hate:

NAUAustin (Tex may have seen this one) If an NAUAustin commercial is shown during a break, they will have a second, almost identical, commercial during the same break.

Seeing Billy Mays selling the next Miracle Product. Cleaners, wall-hanging devices, super putty.

The Subway "Blubber" commercials. You know, "All have a Double Blubber with Thunderthighs" "Would you like that regular or Jumbo?" "Jumbo!"

And finally, for now, the one where the girl is telling her husband about all the features the car they're test-driving has that the one they own doesn't have. "I love it when you talk car." *roll eyes* I know there's an emoticon for that, but it's smiling.

The Sonic commercials are funny, but the ones with the husband and wife are annoying at times. She's not bad looking, but not good looking enough to enjoy their commercials. The two guys are funny. I like the one where one has his mouth full or can't talk (for whatever reason) and the other starts talking about dating his sister.
