Take solace that SP is ranked #6 and #8 in the two national polls that count IMO.

South
1. Southlake (Texas) Carroll (16-0)
2. Northwestern, Miami (15-0)
3. Independence, Charlotte (16-0)
4. Katy, Texas (3-1)
5. Prattville, Ala. (15-0)
6. Summerville, S.C. (12-1)
7. Pahokee, Fla. (14-0)
8. John Curtis, River Ridge, La. (14-0)
9. Booker T. Washington, Miami (12-2)
10. Northside, Warner Robins, Ga. (15-0)
Not that it's easy to oust any of these teams, but SP should probably be no worse than 4th based on the other polls and recent history.

It seems the Tigers win their way up the polls every year anyway.

The 2006 team started seven seniors on offense and six on defense. That left them with nine returning starters. Positions of the seniors in 2006 were three linemen including center, two wideouts, qb, and rb on O and on D three lbs, safety, corner, and interior lineman.
The top rising senior defender on the team, Jordan Woods, moved out of the district and is playing at another school. Since practice started they have lost the te Mario Carter who the offense was built to go through this season. Pugh, the db, is also inured but unsure of the status. The injury happened in the Byrnes scrimmage along with a starting defensive lineman. In addition a starting offensive tackle has been out. He was replacing a backup from last year that also is no longer in the district. The soph starting qb, Carrothers (5'7"), injured his throwing shoulder in practice and is having issues with the pass.
Not sure what the injury status on these players although Carter is out for the year. Knotts has never had to deal with injuries anywhere near this. With everything going the way it is has with graduated starters, injuries, and some kids moving Indy looks the most vulnerable they have (although 2005 was tight).
Indy did have two starters move into the district but they had depth at rb although they got a dynamo. THe soph qb is a big ? and most feel the best bet at qb is the best prospect on the team, Devonte Holloman, a junior safety and specialist. He will be the best to play there after next season.
Indy has always relied on its superior size and strength on the line to go with excellent depth. It does not appear they have that this year.
Elder should give them a good game and if Indy makes it out of Ohio 2-0 they have a tough one against old time rival West Charlotte the next week. They will also have a tough opener Friday against Olympic.
Obviously the big one will be Butler. If both are undefeated going into the last regular season game of the year they both should be ranked most likely and the game will be played in front of a sellout of over 20,000 at Memorial Stadium. Butler is just over five miles from Indy and has five major D1A seniors (Eddie Whitley verbal to VA Tech is out for the year with a torn ACL).

That is the correct web address for the article although it seems to be a problem getting there directly. Go to charlotte.com and you will see the article.
This article is in the Charlotte paper today.
Knotts' father, Don, played at Duke as did Tom. Tom's teammate was Buster Cox, the father of Joe Cox. Tom's three uncles were starters at Duke as was his father. Two uncles were all Americans and are in the Duke Sports Hall of Fame. One went onto coach at DUke, Florida, Tennessee, and NFL. Duke maybe a football joke now but at one time they were very competitive and in the 1940's and 1950's they were a football force.
Knotts' is 52 and an absolute workout beast.

The USA TODAY Super 25 preseason high school football rankings published Aug. 22 inadvertently omitted South Panola of Batesville, Miss. The school, which has won a state-record 60 consecutive games, will be considered for inclusion once most schools have begun play and the rankings are updated. The Tigers open Friday at Warren Central of Vicksburg.
