This could turn out to be a real nail biter. It's not going to be an easy game to win. I must say that last year it was probably our easiest game in the playoffs, but that was just the way it turned out at that time. Aledo had a good team last year and they have a good team this year. Now is the time where the focus and intensity starts to pan out. Who wants it the most? I did'nt get to hear the Aledo/Frienship game, so I can't judge how it went. I did however see them play Keller Fossil. They looked about like last year. Our boys need to know (and I'm sure they do) that the Bearcats want to avenge last year's defeat. How do y'all with the football knowhow look at this game? Go Dawgs
I did listen to the game and it was a real thriller. Aledo scored in the lat 45 seconds to win it. It sounded like they had trouble stopping the run and WF did not complete a pass at all. Lofton did what he has been doing, looking to run on the sweep and making passes down the field. He is surely the real deal and the main guy again for Aledo this year. It seems like this is going to be a highh scoring game. Wow, we have to wait another week again!!

Frenship had the game in the bag.... until..... until.... they got hit with a roughing the passer pentalty on 4th down.... that gave
Aledo the 1st down and another opporunity to score with less than one minute left in the game.....

Let me just say that I saw the Frenship v Aledo game, and Frenship should have won. They had their chances to put it away and they failed to do so. Also some penalties at the end of the game killed them. Frenship was favored to win, but that's why we play the games. Anyone can beat anyone on any given day.
On to Aledo. Aledo, I think is down from what they were last year. It is still the Cole Loftin show, and not a whole lot more. They have some players hurt, and we will have to wait till Saturday to see what happens. They will however, I believe, fight to the end, no matter the outcome.
All that being said, I think Cove wins this game. I think they have done a reasonable job of stopping dual threat qbs, and their offense is very dangerous and can go the length of the field in a very short period of time.

I think Aledo is a good team and one that is capable of beating the DAWGS but i still think my DAWGS will be ready and for a second year keep Lofton in check. He is the main threat and as long as we keep pressure on him and cover their receivers i think we will win it.
Now will you two educate the rest of your fans on how to respect opponents!!! DFFL you've really solidified your position as my favorite Cove fan and Dawglover is working his way up the list.

I don't think Aledo is as good as last year. That huge O-line they had mostly graduated. It is still Loftin left, Loftin right, Loftin up the middle, etc. Stop him and the Dawgs should be able to win. This could turn out to be a real nail biter. It's not going to be an easy game to win. The Dawg D will need another big effort. Boyd's great QB had 225 yards or so, but he also had a few for loss.
The big thing with Cove is if the opponent keys on Griffin, Vital runs wild and vice-versa. Hard to stop both of them.
I look for the Dawgs to win this one, but maybe not as handily as last year's 35-12 romp. More like 32-24, Cove.

I'm thinking that if Aledo can come back on Frenship, and Cove obviously has the same ability to make up ground quickly, it ought to be close. It will probably come down to whose style of play takes control. Cove's speed or Aledo's size.

Wacotrib.com has the game listed as Cove vs. Aledo. I guess that means Aledo is the home team, right? The only reason it matters is those chairs on the home side are pretty comfortable. But it should be an exciting game, and no one's rears should be seated. So who's home and who's visitor?

The Killeen Daily Herald reports that Cove is the home team.
This should be a good one, as should all semi-final matches.

Almost but not quite, Waco had 7, this will be Cove's 6th, I doubt they've ever played 5 in a row or 6 of 7. Cove does have as many wins in Floyd Casey this year as Baylor did though.

You are correct we should have put the game away, but we did not. Our offense ran the ball very well but we just did not throw the ball well, but Michael Conner put on a show for the Tigers. I do not know much about Cove but Aledo's QB is a work horse and they managed to keep the ball away from the Tigers most of the 2nd half. the last drive they had chewed up about 8 minutes....Best of Luck to Both TeamsFeel free to insert "hate" whenever you feel justified.
