Wow! Very impressive. That took a lot of work! I noticed a few missing names like Larry Cooke (late 50s who went to Notre Dame), Stanley Robinson (Arizona State), George Beggs (TCU). Also one of the best QBs in Ennis history imo is Chuck Bohall, but actual statistics would not compare due to different style offense.
Thanks! I have been working on this on and off for a while now in my spare time. This list is just scratching the surface. As soon as I get records and stats for other years and players, I will add them. There are a lot of other great players who are not on this list yet, but should be, and hopefully in time, we can have a more complete list. Thanks to Brick and Ennis football.com for the later stuff. The library has old newspapers back to 1953 and it will take time to go through all these. I've only looked at '53, '67, '68, '69 and '76 so far. '75 seems to be missing. Stuff before 1950 is almost non-existant. So anyone with any stats or records to add, even if it is a guess, would be gladly appreciated. This list will grow, so check back from time to time and hopefully I can add more special teams and defensive stats.
Thanks, kbo

Great List, Aaron Clark is also missing from some of the passing Records, as well as Chris Copeland from the kicking records.Wow! Very impressive. That took a lot of work! Outstanding work and some of the names sure bring back some memories. In the longest kickoff return catagory,I noticed that famous opening kickoff return in the 75 state championship vs Cuero for a touchdown was missing. Not sure how long it was,but Im sure it should be in there. It was a thriller that surely stunned the Gobblers and their fans-LOL -Also missing were names like Jerry Kitchens,Gary Lockhart and Clay Calloway who seemed to contribute greatly to their respective teams defensive efforts.Lots of names missing off the 1970 team.Guys, thats a lot of work- and appreciated by the fans-

Thanks TechLion75! Welcome to the board! Keep checking back, stats and records will be added as I get them. I am slowly sifting through all the old newpapers at the Ennis Public Library. The sad thing is that the film for the 1975 season is missing. The ones just before and after are there, but the one that would have the football season is gone. I've asked the library to look for it, but so far it hasn't been found. Thats a shame, that was one of the first years I was going to look at. As for 1970, I haven't gone through that year yet.

I think that kickoff in 1975 was either 90 or 95 yards. I think it was either Gary Lillie or Billy Jackson. There used to be a plaque in the locker room with the article on it.

Does the EDN keep all of their archives at the library? Maybe they (the EDN) know where you can find that '75 paper.

Not sure. I can try to e-mail Ty at EDN to see what he can come up with. I know the library has from 1953 to recent stuff. Not sure what EDN has. From what I understand, the library is currently scanning the old rolls from EDN (pre-1953) where they can be accessed from the computers at the library. They say the '20's and '30's should be ready within the year.

I think this is a great list. My brother, #99 Greg Jones is on the list as well as my son and nephew's coach, Billy Mcdade!
Thanks MOJO! This is still a work in progress and I will be adding more stats as I get them, but it is a good list so far.
Yes, 2004 was one of my favorite seasons, with Greg and Dennis Beasley terrorizing opposing teams. That was a great team!
Also, I went to school with Billy, he graduated the year after me.
I still need Greg's stats for 2003 and before, like on the career sacks, I only have what he had for 2004.
Thanks for the support MOJO, if Greg or Billy or anybody you know, knows of any stats I'm missing, I'd appreciate any info yall might have. Have a great day! Go Lions!
