The championship format is 2-3-2. The Lakers "steal" one in Boston and win it at home in game 5.

Just for the record. The 1984 Lakers and Celtics would literally mop the floor with today's teams.

Celtics take Game 2 at home...lead series 2-0.

They were up by 22 points with about 7 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. With about 40 seconds left in the game, the Celtics were up by 2. That does't bode real well to me...the Lakers now know they can score in droves...should get interesting back in LA.

Lakers win game 3....Celtics up 2-1.

After Phil complained about the referees jobs in Game 2, last night was a different story. They went apeshit giving calls to the Lakers. The lack of foul calls, or in last night's case-an overabundance of them, is getting old. I almost have to wonder if that ref calling the other refs out for setting up certain winners in games might be true.

Just let the damn players PLAY!!!

Celtics win Game 4...take 3-1 lead.

I turned this game off with about 6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Boston had rallied to within 13 points, and the Lakers had just moved it back up to a 20 point lead. With the Lakers averaging a lead of 18 to 24 points the whole game up to this point, I figured it was time to get some sleep. I will say this...this was the first game of the series I thought the refs did a decent job, AND the Lakers were just flat-out beating the crap out of the Celtics. Yes, definately time to sleep. My fiance' said as I got into bed, "Russ, with your luck the Celtics will come back and win." To which my reply was "Yeah, usually when I turn a game off something big happens. But this time Boston just looks dead flat tonight. Oh well, if they come back, I'll chalk it up to being stupid again."

Um, guess I was stupid again...hahahaha. But then again, not sure anyone would have predicted this comeback. Anyway, I got to see firsthand on the headlines on ESPN this morning that I didn't turn the game off with it being 'around 6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, it was actually 6:04 (haha):

"Trailing by 18 points at halftime and seemingly done when they fell behind by 20 with 6:04 left in the third quarter, the Celtics outscored the Lakers 31-15 in the third quarter to pull within 73-71 going into the fourth." (ESPN article)

Think I'll actually stay awake for Game 5...hahahahahahaha.

Glad I did stay awake for this one. It was a fight to the end. Good game on both sides.

Celtics completely destroyed the Lakers to close this series out 4-2. Beat them by 39 points; although they did have it up to 43 a minute or two before the end.

Garnett had a good game, Pierce had a good game, Allen had an incredible game (7 3-pointers). But to be honest, I thought Rondo played the best overall game last night...his assists, steals, rebounds, points, etc....he flat out was a one-man wrecking crew of LA last night.

Although I really like Paul Pierce, I don't think he deserved the "Finals MVP"...Ray Allen was consistent throughout this whole series with deadly accurate shooting...hell, he set the all time Finals record for 3 pointers. I think he was overlooked cause everyone felt so bad for Pierce finally getting here and winning. BUT WAIT...didn't Allen and Garnett wait forever to get here too?? Oh well.

As for Kobe...hahahahahahahaha. He might be the best damn player in the world, but until he gets some help, he's going to keep squandering chances at this. Even MJ didn't start ruling the Finals world until Pippen and others became great around him. And I do NOT think Bynum is their savior when he comes back from injury. THEY NEED MORE THAN THAT. What they need is a true leader...and Kobe is NOT that. He's a bitch, moan, and complainer for sure...but definately no leader.

As for Phil Jackson, I love the guy's fruity 'zen' nature about him. But I don't rank him up there with the likes of Auerbach because of his tie with him in the Finals. Jackson had arguably the best lineup in history with the Bulls, and the 2nd best with Shaq and Kobe with the Lakers. My grandma could have coached those 2 teams to all those championship wins. What Jackson has proved now is that he CAN'T

Anyway, it was fun to watch. Next year will be interesting with draft additions to all the teams.

Congrats Boston.
