After a slow start, they take off Dec thru Feb only to come back to reality toward playoff time!

i feel this will be a long year for the mavs. they gave away too much by getting rid of devin harris alone who was great for this team. jason kidd is old and does not look good with the members of this team. the mavs really lack scoring from their guards and will get whipped by any team that has good guard play at both ends of the court. then seeing them struggle against a team in cleveland that has a similiar makeup should scare them.

i really think mark cuban should try his best to get d-wade here to dallas and build his franchise around him. he would really have to pry him away from miami and would be highly unlikely.

wade, james, and some other big names will be up for FA this year. those teams would be stupid to let those guys walk to another team. the question is how much money some of those other teams have to offer?

for the mavs I really wish we never traded devin harris. I like jason kidd, but this is a trade that should have been made four years ago after the departure of nash, given kidd's age currently. jj barea and jason terry are playing very well in the back court. kidd brings some other things to the table, but he just doesn't have dribble penetration in the half-court. and that is key for any back-court. the mavs lost that when nash walked and they went after harris for that reason. they chose to develop him and stay the course with a make-shift point guard in jason terry. and they were patient through his growing pains. and that patience was paying off, as harris did nothing but improve every season and eventually earned the starting PG duties permanently. then when harris was having a break-out year last season, the mavs gave it away.....they were in panic mode midseason last year. in reality their(mavs) slide took place when harris was injured. when harris was healthy he was undoubtably the best starter aside from dirk last season and the mavs were doing well. and even NBA opponents were wondering why the mavs traded harris away. teams absolutely feared what harris could do on the court, surrounded by other guys like dirk, howard, and terry.

now head to head harris hangs 41 on dallas. I still can't believe mark cuban traded that KID away for an old KIDD. nash was old so he let nash walk....but on the flip side he trades away a promising young player who cannot be defended for an old jason kidd? paying him a higher salary than nash or harris is making at that? why not just pay nash in the first place then? I don't understand why you would trade harris....your best young player. there is no player in the league that can handle the speed of devin harris. now that this guy is hitting his jump shot and consistently getting others involved....he will be a top flight PG in this league that can rival the likes of deron williams and maybe even chris paul when he's on his game. jason kidd is no longer in that category and hasn't been for a few years now. after all of this it seems like the mavs must get 30 from both jet and dirk every night to win games. that and jj barea your third option at point when harris was here, is now the guy that has to play well at that position for the mavs to win games. no wonder why avery johnson got into shouting matches with cuban. i really like what cuban has done for the mavs.....but some of his personnel decisions have been flat out boneheaded. and it's too bad that his head coaches have to play the role of his scape goats. In a way you have to think cuban deserves getting it stuck to him by nash and nellie in those playoff series where they both showed up cuban.
