From the Dallas Morning News, in case you havent already read it:
"Stars general manager Doug Armstrong said he is close to signing defenseman Don Sweeney and right wing Rob DiMaio, unrestricted free agents, for the coming season. An announcement could come as early as this week.
DiMaio, 36, had nine goals, 15 assists and was plus-2 in 69 games last season. He made $800,000 last season. Stars coach Dave Tippett repeatedly praised DiMaio's gritty play and the fact that he could play on nearly any line.
Sweeney, who turns 38 in August, provided defensive depth and earned more minutes as the season progressed because of his consistent play. Sweeney, who collected $550,000 last season, had 11 assists and was plus-22, the second-highest rating on the team. He can also help teach youngster Trevor Daley, who is likely to get a full-time spot in the Stars' defensive corps.
Klemm hopes to return: Defenseman Jon Klemm said he has talked with the Stars about returning next season. Klemm's agent, Art Breeze, termed the discussions as "ongoing" and expects talks to continue.
Klemm, an unrestricted free agent who made $2.5 million last season, said he wants to play in Dallas.
Briefly: Art Breeze, who is also Richard Matvichuk's agent, said the defenseman intends to explore the open market on July 1. "For the first time in his career, he's unrestricted and he wants to keep his options open." A return to the Stars is unlikely unless Matvichuk takes a pay cut from the $2.2 million he made last season...."

Ya, he was showing age last year. His time may be up as you say. But it is a big loss as he was still a very talented defender.
