The San Jose Sharks have picked up the picked up the option on defenceman Brad Stuart for next season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Stuart had nine goals and 30 assists for a career-high 39 points last year. He led all Sharks defencemen in scoring.
The Sharks had a perfect 8-0-0 record when Stuart scored a goal last season. He set a franchise record for the fastest two goals by an individual player, posting two third-period goals 17 seconds apart on April 4 against the Los Angeles Kings.
Stuart had one goal, five assists and 13 penalty minutes in 17 playoff games for the Sharks.
