A minor quibble, but is there any reason you have to call my local school "Hewitt-Waco Midway?" Other than on this board, I have never seen Midway HS called Hewitt-Waco Midway. Around here everyone just says Midway. However if you need more specificity for a statewide audience then Waco-Midway would be fine. The school is actually located within the city limits of Waco and the attendance zone covers Woodway, Speegleville, Spring Valley and parts of Waco and Robinson in addition to Hewitt.

Actually there is a reason and its quite simple. I have been using the Hewitt-Waco Midway term for several years. In the media, some organizations called the school Hewitt Midway while others called it Waco Midway. This actually caused some some confusion amongst a few people. So a few years ago I decided that instead of choosing one or the other, I would combine the two cities to the Midway name. It has stuck with me ever since. I have never had anyone have an issue with the way I have termed Midway's location to this day, even with the coaching staff. Hope this helps

Like I said, it was a quibble. Not a big deal.
Funny thing though. The old Midway HS actually was within Hewitt. As is the football stadium which is directly behind the old HS building (now the middle school). The new HS which was built in 2003 is across the street from the stadium and in Waco. The street that separates the HS from the football stadium is the border between Waco and Hewitt. So at the HS all the cops patrolling the halls during the school days and in their squad cars in the parking lot before and after school are Waco Police. But when Friday night football games happen across the street, all the police at the games are Hewitt police.
So pre-2003 it would have been more technically accurate to say Hewitt-Midway and post 2003 it would be more technically accurate to say Waco-Midway. The city of Waco keeps annexing pieces of unincorporated land in this area so that the percentage of Midway ISD that falls within the city of Waco is slowly growing.

Denison played what amounted to a "prevent" defense in the first half of that game. I don't think they'll make that mistake again this year. If they would have played up on the recievers and rushed Lee in the first half like they did in the second half, that game wouldn't have been close. Having said that, I think McKinney will be better this year on defense, so who knows what will happen?

All this dialogue between old rivals is fun and entertaining, but the outcome will once again be decided on the field. Personally, I have serious doubts about either defense and if McKinney hasn't made a BIG improvement on defense it could be a good old country whuppin'.

I'm sure our coaches don't want a lot info put on these here boards, but I don't think people will be dissappointed when they see this years offense. A few good defenders does not make a great JV, our JV struggled in the skilled positions, which makes it difficult to win. You put an average defense with last years offense and I think it would have been a totally different year. So, as a Lion's pappa, I'm hopeful for an improve D and maybe twice the number in the wins column.
You will not hear me down Denison, they are very talented and will be a handful for anyone.
