Well, I'm disappointed that the Rangers didn't make the playoffs.

I think what really did them in was that late August, two-week implosion that they had. Before that two-week period, the Rangers were at most 2 games back (which was very doable), if I remember right. If they sweep Seattle in the final series of the season, they will have 89 wins.

I suppose some positives to the season are:

1. We have the 4th highest # of wins in the American League (top 25%).
NYY: 102
BOS: 92
DET: 85
LAA: 94

And the 8th best record in MLB. We're tied with 2 other teams currently (10/02/2009) with 86 wins.

2. We had a 59.3% win percentage at home. 48.7% on the road. General Consensus in baseball is that you should win 2/3 of your home games, and 50% of your road games to have a real chance of making the playoffs (roughly a 95-67 record). I forget where I read that. A sweep of Seattle would give the Rangers a 50.6% road record. Meaning we fell about 7% short (about 6 games) at home. The LAA were basically on that pace (2/3 home wins, 50% road wins). The only ones really above that are the NYY.

3. We had the 6th highest runs scored total in the AL. Better than 57.1% of the AL.
4. We had the 4th lowest runs scored total in the AL. Better than 75% of the AL.
5. The Rangers were +43 in runs (runs scored - runs allowed).
6. The AL average for runs scored is 764.35. The Rangers scored 773, which is above average.

so I guess those are a few positives to end the season on.
