In a previous thread on overtime extra points it was stated that if it was a district that used points a a tiebreaker then a team would be required to attempt the extra point. In this stuation the defense scored but the team was not required to kick the extra point....

If D gets ball on a turnover on a rwegular play (not extra pt) they can score and will get 6. If the dist uses the pos points tiebreaker they MUST get the chance to try fpor extra point. What game?If the defense scores in overtime does it count as a touchdown if the offense was attempting to even the score? The defense scores after it's team has already scored during it's possession.

An offical friend of mine who works in West Texas said it should not count as a touchdown just an attempt defended. It has to stay live until the returner crosses the goal line, goes out of bounds or is downed because the ball could be fumbled and returned by the offense....best move would have really been to just fall down and end the play. Points should not count for the return.
He is wrong. The points do count and the extra point should have been attempted.
