Everyone was "wow'ing" at our game last night when the stadium announcer was passing on the score from the El Street Stadium.

Question: what happened to Dominick Scott and his receivers for Alpine??

Statement: I always wondered if Alpine was as good as they were cracked up to be. I don't believe they were ever ranked.
They played a lot of B Teams in Non-District- no offense.

Prediction: Littlefield will kill them. Alpine- one and done in the playoffs.

Alpines Dominic scott is a good quarterback with talented recievers......Crane definitly knew how to defend them ...all of cranes defensive back are same from last year except one.....alot faster and quicker then there receivers so they where able to defend them good all night. If Little field doesn't have a good pass defense it will be a good game...long night. Based on Littlefields Run offense it should be a good game for littlefield......Alpine has a Soft Run Defense.

Goodluck to both Alpine and Littlefield on a good game.

Actually Crane had no defensive backs playing from last yr at the same position. the only returning corner is at saftey now and the other safety is played by a freshman. both corner positions are inexperienced at the varsity level, one being a soph. 1st yr on the team the others are 3 seniors one who only played 5 mins of last yrs season the other converted from a defensive end who only got a mild amount of playing time last yr and the last who played last yr on JV.

The only returned starting players crane has on defense at the same position is #15 LB and #3 Saftey (who has been out last 2 games for injury)

2 Jordan Cavazos played Corner last and was moved to safty....5 Garrett wilson rotated at corner last year with Justin Mendoza who graduated only new starter you are correct is sophmore Dalton and he's doing a great job at corner. I missed the 2 rotated for teague friday night but all but Dalton played every game last year...and wilson who played often last year.....including cody black who played safety last year was moved to linebacker but also covers in spread formation with more then 4 receivers. My comment was based on there play time as a defensive back........not weather they started at safety and still play safety or corner and still play corner......was commenting on there experience from last year. They did a great job Last friday night.

Justin Mendoza has never played corner and hasnt graduated (honorable mentioned All-State LB last year). Garrett was a defensive back on the JV level 2 years ago, last year he played defensive end when he got in, never DB. Dalton is a natural athlete and is doing a great job as a 1st yr soph i agree, but his role on JV was bigger as a QB. I believe Dalton and Pookie Woods (Fr) rotated at corner in the place of teague last fri. and everyone except D-line in most cases drops back in a spread formation. that's their job not just being a DB. Cody never broke up a pass that night at his position. I didnt mean my comment to be out of spite, i just know it not that they have a high level of experience and thats why they shut alpine down. Its's more like the coaches have done a better job this yr in breaking down the concepts better for the players and fitted the tactics on a more personal level for each player. plus these kids know the importance of their role and respect that. now just imagine wat these kids could be doing if they had a few more years of experience at the varsity level in those positions. Maybe passing offenses shut down comepletely? Maybe Muleshoe game could have turned out differently?

Jordan Mendoza not Justin mendoza played cornerback last year....and yes his brother Justin who played linebacker last year also was all state linebacker. This friday night Pookie did not play corner.....he rotated out of the safety position friday night with Jordan Cavazos and david contrares. I do recall Cody black breaking up a few passes this last game with alpine. The players are the ones that have stepped up and worked harder this year....They have dedicated themselves to making it farther and doing better then last year. The coaching hasn't changed much on defense......it's the offense that has changed....coach esparza has done a great job at not waivering like he did so much last year. I also believe Crane should have won the Muleshoe game.......but it was mistakes on Cranes part that kept them from it.....to many Mistakes on offense...fumbles....dropped passes.....four scoring oppurtunities lost from mistakes....not from muleshoes defense....Just lack of concentration......but the great thing about that is they learned from there mistakes and have not had another game like that....have constantly improved.....and that's a big credit to the boys hard work.
