Bergen Catholic nearly beat them that year.

DLS was #1 in '03.

I didnt know about Bosco that year. I only knew of DLS and North Shore.. But I never claimed to know everything..

Fdavids you surprise me with your seen and done it all. Thats pretty right on.. I followed Plano closely in 87 and they had a giant of a team with the 6,000 students, guys 6'9 and stuff on the line. I think Plano also had a running back last named James in 87 that wasnt as fast as Craig James but easily got the job done behind that big line. Coach Kimbrough is kinda famous from that era.

I remember they kept winning and a pizza business in Plano kept feeding the team for free after every win(I know the team was eating them out of business) and they kept showing it on tv. I think that was their national champ year wasnt it?

Yes 1987 was their National Championship Year. Stratford (15-1) must have had a pretty good team too; losing only 28-21 in the Finals. I believe the game was tied at 21-21 before Plano drove down the field for the winning TD.

If you're that smart; give us the winners of this weekends games -- in advance. If you get them all correct then I suppose you are pretty smart.

Noone probably thinks the DLS teams that played DBP the last two years are comparable to the 03 team. The 03 team would've crushed the last two DLS teams easily.

AS would have the 03 Bsoco team.

03 was significatly better tha the last two Bosco teams.

02 or 03 may have been their best team ever.

The only reason they were not ranked #1 was because they were new to the national scene and DLS had not lost for so long that polls simply did not move them.

Midland Lee (2000) is the 4th best Texas team of all time according to your link...

4. 2000 Midland Lee: Led by record-setting running back Cedric Benson, Lee won its third consecutive state title. But there was more than Benson to handle. Standout lineman Eric Winston was a terror at tight end and on defense.

2000
West Monroe 36
Midland Lee 8

You're right there. I wouldn't rank any Midland Lee team due to their great embarrasment in 2000. Some of the best Texas teams are as follows:
.
1. 1985 HOUSTON YATES
2. 1989 ODESSA PERMIAN
3. 1990 HOUSTON ALDINE
4. 1991 ODESSA PERMIAN
5. 1992 TEMPLE
6. 1994 TYLER JOHN TYLER
7. 1996 LEWISVILLE
8. 1996 AUSTIN WESTLAKE
9. 2000 KATY
10. 2003 GALENA PARK NORTH SHORE
11. 2004 SOUTHLAKE CARROLL
12. 2005 SOUTHLAKE CARROLL
13. 2006 SOUTHLAKE CARROLL
14. 2007 KATY
15. 2009 ABILENE
16. 2010 PEARLAND
17. 2010 EULESS TRINITY

--------------------------------------------
NATIONAL
1. 1996 HAMPTON PHOEBUS,VA
2. 1999 DLS,CAL
3. 2004 CIN COLERAIN,OHIO
4. 2001 DLS,CAL
5. 2008 STA,FLA
6. 1990 RUSTON,LOUISIANA
7. 2000 WEST MONROE,LOUISIANA
8. 1998 WEST MONROE,LOUISIANA
9. 1985 EAST ST. LOUIS, ILLINOIS
10. 1984 VALDOSTA, GEORGIA
11. 1995 CLEVELAND ST. IGNATIUS,OHIO
12. 1986 VALDOSTA, GEORGIA
-------------------------------------------------
This should be pretty close.

Can't speak for the rest of the country, but for FLA I'll go with

2008 STA
2007 Miami Northwestern
2005 Lakeland

Those teams can compete with any HS team ever assembled.

I saw that Bosco 03 team in person. I only saw that DLS team on TV (vs. Evangel), so take it for what it's worth.

I don't know which team would have won that game but it would have been competitive. There's no way DLS boat races that Bosco team.

That was - still, in my eyes - the best Bosco team I've ever seen. I know they only beat BC by a point in the title game, but it's not like the Crusaders sucked that year. Most teams - even the best - have a close game or two.

It's too bad that NJ was still behind the times in terms of OOS games because if that game happened, it would have been a much better game than either of the two they played recently.

1991 aldine state and national champs

That's 1990 -- Aldine beat Arlington Lamar in the finals 27-10. One poll had Aldine #1 and NSNS had Ruston,La #1. USA TODAY had an Oklahoma team #1.
