I like the 1991 Permian Panthers they didnt lack run stopping ability like the 04 McKinley team.

That was a pretty wicked defense. The over/under on 91 Permian v. 04 Colerain probably would have been around 12! ;)

That may be true.:) Back in those days defenses mostly practiced against the run.

1967 Coral Gables

I looked that team up and they looked pretty good. I think they were a smaller classification 2a. I dont know how big that was back then. They maybe bigger then the 3a Daingerfield tx team that was so good way back then I think 1983 that had 14 shut outs. These little teams while amazing.. I dont think beat a 91 Permian or a 04 Colerain.

Looks like Districct 7 & 11 might be the strongest with 3 teams still in the playoffs in Div I & II.Carroll is really the surprise team. I never expected them to make it this far. Coppell/Trinity could be a great game if both teams play up to their potential.. Stony Point has won 13 games 3 years in a row now. Their match-up with DeSoto should be another barnburner.. How about Cy-Woods? That'd be a shocker to find them in the Finals in a couple weeks.

best team ever?

how about the

1939 National Champions

Garfield NJ

They beat Miami HS on Christmas night to win the title.

FL never could play with NJ

I think Bosco will prove this yet again next year

I like the 1991 Permian Panthers they didnt lack run stopping ability like the 04 McKinley team.

Every year the teams seem to get better than their predessors. However; some of the best teams I recall are:
1985 E. St. Louis,Il.
1990 Ruston ,La.
1996 Hampton, Va.
1999 Concord DLS,Cal.
2001 Concord DLS,Cal.
2004 Cincinnati Colerain,Ohio
2008 FL St. Thomas Aquinas,Fl.

Thats a pretty good Texas list you might throw in:
1920
Houston Heights 0, Cleburne 0 (tie) CO-CHAMPIONS :)
86&87 Plano
92 4a Waxahachie
LaMarque - I think you have to recognize them, they played for State 6 yrs in row starting in 93-98 only losing to Stephenville 93,94, and 98 and winning the rest.

Stephenville 4a one of the most dominate Texas teams of the 90's.Played for state 93,94,98,99 winning every appearance( coach Bryles is now HC of Baylor)

And speaking of Houston Stratord. Plano played for state in 77 and 78 losing only one of the games to Stratford but again played back to back years winning 86,87 and one of wins was to Stratford.

03 We still have a brutal Galena Park N.S. I would put up against any team that year including a easy win at Bosco :)

1987 Plano (16-0) was Recognized in one poll as #1. They beat Houston Stratford (15-1) 28-21 in the finals. 1986 Plano (14-2) beat LaMarque 24-7 in the Astrodome in the Finals. I was fortunate enough to drive into the Dome with a LaMarque Police Escort that I came upon driving North on I-45 that morning. Their coach was killed a couple weeks earlier in an automobile accident. LaMarque reached the finals on pure emotion. The 1978 Plano team lost to Stratford 29-13 in the finals in the Astrodome. I attended that game. Plano scored a last minute TD to make the final score somewhat respectable. Craig James scored most of the points. He also kicked extra points & field goals. In the Semi-Finals he scored all 24 points in a 24-7 win over SA Churchill (13-1). 1977 Plano (13-1-1) beat PNG (14-1) 13-10 in Dallas in the finals. That was a real defensive battle. The halftime score was 13-7.

2003 North Shore had a great team; but I honestly don't believe they would have beaten DLS that year. I had them ranked #2 with DBP,NJ #3 in 2003. Incidentally DLS had possibly 4 teams that rank above their 2003 team who allowed only 65 points -- the 1999,2001,1994 & 2002 teams.

just was not gonna happen

One thing I know for sure Bosco was #1 in Jersey.. friend :) Don't you wish they have a bowl or two every year to get head to head or common opponents. But some like Tejas05 would rather guess then look at common opponents

In 03 Bosco was supposed to play DLS but BC (the team they play tonight for the state title #24 USA Today)vetoed the game as Bosco needed league permission.

Yes you are correct BC with Cushing nearly did beat them. Bosco had 5 turnovers and still won it however.

Fdavids you surprise me with your seen and done it all. Thats pretty right on.. I followed Plano closely in 87 and they had a giant of a team with the 6,000 students, guys 6'9 and stuff on the line. I think Plano also had a running back last named James in 87 that wasnt as fast as Craig James but easily got the job done behind that big line. Coach Kimbrough is kinda famous from that era.

I remember they kept winning and a pizza business in Plano kept feeding the team for free after every win(I know the team was eating them out of business) and they kept showing it on tv. I think that was their national champ year wasnt it?
