I agree about MNW..

In 1999 though Evangel Christian, La was stacked as well...I honestly don't think anyone could have beat Evangel Christian in 1999 and that includes DLS...Evangel was scary, ask anyone...

They beat 2 OOS teams that year -- 41-20 Sringdale,Ark. & 52-6 Moss Point,Ms. They actually won their first 10 OOS games from 1997-2002 (7-0) against Texas; but are only 6-18 since -- 2-10 against Texas. They've lost 11 of their last 13 overall dating back to 2005. You have to give them credit though for not dodging anyone. Back to 1999 -- I had the top 10 as follows:
1. Concord De La Salle, Cal. 12-0
2. Doylestown Central Bucks West, Pa. 15-0
3. Shreveport Evangel Christian, La. 15-0
4. Naperville Central, Ill. 14-0
5. Midland Lee, Tx. 15-0
6, Indianapolis Ben Davis, Ind. 15-0
7. Lakeland, Fla. 15-0
8. Garland, Tx. 15-1
9. Belle Glade Glades Central, Fla. 15-0
10. Erie Cathedral Prep, Pa. 13-1

1983 Dangerfield was really good..One of the Best Defense ever in the State of Texas..

Stats wise; they outscored 16 opponents something like 600-8 and closed with 14 consecutive shutouts. However; it's questionable how they would have stacked up against 4A & 5A opponents. Daingerfield was a 3A team that year.

99 Evangel was lucky to have beaten JC, and Monroe in 99.

Evangel 28 JC 20

Evangel 20 Monroe 14

You have to realize; those were 2 of the best teams in the state that year. They jumped on John Curtis 28-0; then the Patriots (13-1); eventual 4A Champs; made a valiant comeback in the 2nd half but fell short. Evangel's win against West Monroe was in the State Finals in the Superdome. They also beat West Monroe in the state finals 2001 -- 34-27 (OT), 2002 -- 35-4, 2003 -- 26-15 & 2004 -- 21-20 as well as 41-21 in 2002. Their only loss was 37-13 in 2001.

I don't disagree, but they played opponents on their own level. The best 5A teams probably wouldn't do very well against Kansas, Vanderbuilt, Indiana or Maryland. Nobody tries to compare 5A teams to NCAA Division I teams though. Even bad ones.

1992 Southlake Carroll 16-0 803-122 could arguably be the #1 Class 3-A team. As for 4-A there's a long list.

No. 5 on this list of all-time best Texas teams. Obviously, that's incorrect.

http://footballrecru....asp?CID=874797

To this day 1973 Tyler John Tyler led by Earl Campbell is still recognized as the greatest Texas H.S. team of all time. Whoever compiles this list needs to wake up.
There are probably 30 or so greater teams. My top 10 list is:
1. 2007 Katy
2. 2005 SOUTHLAKE CARROLL
3. 2006 SOUTHLAKE CARROLL
4. 2003 GALENA PARK NORTH SHORE
5. 1985 HOUSTON YATES
6. 1989 ODESSA PERMIAN
7. 1990 HOUSTON ALDINE
8. 2000 KATY
9. 1991 ODESSA PERMIAN
10. 2004 SOUTHLAKE CARROLL

I am not sure what point you are trying to make.

You stated that 5A teams wouldn't do very well against Kansas, Vanderbilt, Indiana or Maryland. I wasn't trying to compare High School Football to College Football. I was only pointing out that Daingerfield was great; maybe even super in 3A; but even in 1983 I doubt if they would have emerged victorious against Converse Judson or Midland Lee. In fact; they would have likely got steamrolled 42-7. This post reads "Best High School Football Team EVER?" Daingerfield doesn't fit into that category. Their in 2A now and just a few years ago lost by 20 or so points to 3A #1 (Gilmer); while destroying 2A opponents all season.

As I said, "I don't disagree,". Last season has nothing to do with 1983. So your contention is, the bigger the better?

I know what the thread title is, but the OP making the Daingerfield point said this.

1983 Dangerfield was really good..One of the Best Defense ever in the State of Texas..

"was really good" and "One of the Best Defense ever...". Thus, I believe the OP realized Daingerfield was probably not the best ever when compared to a 5A team like Judson or Lee from that same season. He was simply pointing out how good they were. Therefore in continuation of the thought process of the OP, I mentioned no need to compare. That's all.

Any top 10 list should include 2005 Lakeland, 2006 or 2007 MNW and 2008 STA.

Yes indeed they were a great team and I shouldn't have cast a shadow on their accomplishments; Maybe I got carried away. They would have performed better than I stated above against Judson or Lee; however I still believe would have come up short. The amazing statistics they achieved were mostly against 3A teams. I didn't follow lower classifications as closely back then; however did that year when I saw what they were doing towards the end of the regular season when they started receiving statewide coverage in the newspapers. The question didn't seem to be whether they would win their next game; but rather would they post another shutout. They set a record that might never be equalled. 4a champion Bay City also had a great team that year.
