North Shore beat Westlake, but how good was Westlake is the question. They snuck by Jay of San Antonio in the 2nd round(27-23). I'm sure Jay is a power. This is a last man standing competition and it doesnt mean anything about strength of the competition when your still leveling teams at the semi's and State Championship games..
I mean Abilene was put in a really weak Ft.worth district and just kept plowing any thing in their path to the top. North Shore was one of the best all time best teams in Texas and so was Southlake..
Best High School Football Team EVER?

Houston Madison (1-8)
Alief Elsik (5-5)
Deer Park (5-4)
LaPorte (6-4)
Pasadena Rayburn (2-7)
South Houston (2-7)
Pearland (10-1)
Pasadena (2-7)
Pasadena Dobie (4-5)
-----
Playoffs
Clear Lake (9-1)
Humble (7-4)
Houston Lamar (11-1)
Austin Westlake (9-4)
The Woodlands (14-0)
That was North Shore's schedule. These records are not counting losses to North Shore. Clear Lake and Pearland are solid opponents, but those teams also played shitty schedules in the regular season. Which inflated their records. Pearland lost in the 2nd round of the 5A II playoffs to Memorial(Port Arthur). Clear Lake was shut out by Baytown Lee 27-0.

Take any 5 of the playoff teams, along with Pearland and Alief Elsik on some years, and you would have the 2 best team in jersey on any given year. All those teams would be state finalists with a 12 game schedule against cream puff competition. But since you have a game tape, surely it aint so.

Several teams I've watched would beat them. 2005 SLC was better than 03 North Shore.Your Best Team couldent beat them

Houston Lamar, Clear Lake and Humble would not be top 2 teams in the state Jersey. Austin Westlake in some years yes, same for The Woodlands, and Arlington Lamar hasn't been good since 03.Take any 5 of the playoff teams, along with Pearland and Alief Elsik on some years, and you would have the 2 best team in jersey on any given year. 2005 SLC had a good team dont get me wrong..But They wouldent have seen a defense like the one GPNS had..
Dont get me wrong they have teams that would of beat GPNS, like for one i think the 1990 Aldein team would have or some of the Odessa teams from the 80's..Just thoes team for example
Im just saying that was a good team..

GPNS didn't see an offense anywhere near as good as SLC had from 02-07. The Woodlands was held to 14 points by Jersey village in 03. GPNS's schedule in the playoffs in 03 is similar to Katy's road in 08. GPNS faced one team in the top 10 in Texas all season long. That's pretty sad.IDK about that..

Despite all that, you want to argue about who is the best team in Texas over the last 15-20 years. Give it a break. Your act like you know better than the people that live here and have followed hs football in Texas for a long time. You don't know, but you are showing typical california arrogance. Several people on this board say 03 North Shore was one of the best ever, and best in Texas over the last 15 years, and even some OOS posters, yet you are gung ho on SLC. 05 SLC and 03 North Shore would have been like this years game. Southlake would have been favored and would have lost to a faster, more physical, tougher team. Its not hard to figure it out.

^^^Steeler, your losing the arguement. Your an out of stater that has never even seen a Texas hs football game in person, or if any, very very few. You know very little about Texas hs football, even though you try hard too (not only on this website, but several others centered around Texas hs football).
I've seen a ton of Texas football games on T.V. the last several years(Since 03). I know I've seen a lot more teams from around the country than you have. I've seen the best teams from Florida, Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Cali, Michigan, Illinois, Louisiana(Not every year though), Washington, Oregon, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Bama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Jersey and more. Who the hell have you seen?

This years SLC team lacked speed. As evidenced by the whooping Bowie gave them. Bowie manned up Carroll, and Carroll couldn't do anything. Try manning up Jacobson, Renfro, Cantu, Fentriss, Smiter etc......... See how well that would've gone, and who favored Carroll over NS? Everyone was 50/50 on that game.

Teams from Texas I've watched.
Odessa Permian, Trinity, Westlake, LaMarque, Lake Travis, SLC, Katy, Cinco Ranch, North Shore, Lufkin, Allen, Abilene, Hightower, REL, Westfield, Klein Oaks, San Antonio Madison, Sulphur Springs, Longview, Texas High, Highland Park, Ennis, Cedar Hill, Arlington Bowie, Plano, Plano East, Wylie, Smithson Valley, The Woodlands, Denton Ryan, Waco, Flower Mound, Marcus, Midland Lee, Midland, and there is still a lot more I'm missing.
I can guarantee you haven't watched anywhere near as many teams from OOS as I have watched of Texas teams.

Steeler, nobody is talking about who has seen more OOS games. So far the discussion has been best teams in Texas. You throw SoS, but that doesn't mean a team is weak or can't be the the best. GPNS beat who they had to beat. Since 03 you've seen GPNS play probably twice and both of those were on TV. The shortfall of TV is you can only see what the camera wants you to, limiting your situational awareness. That's why watching games live increases one's situational awareness and a person can better assess what's going on. This is why your opinions come under scrutiny so much is you come off as some Tx expert but you have a limited awareness due to you have never seen a game live and compared to some of the Tx fans no where near enough games to make a legitimate argument!

Title of the thread is best high school team ever. I keep hearing how NS would clobber DBP 03 team because they clobbered everyone on their weak schedule.

I've actually seen North Shore play every year since 03, and I bring their SOS up because it puts into perspective why they were blowing teams out so easily. They didn't play a great team. Not to hard to look invincible when you don't play top notch competition.

Watching live games is nice, but unlike you I don't value to many people's opinions on football. I take what I see, and what I have learned from breaking down football games, over people who are just pounding on their chests because the team is from their state. North Shore was brought up because GMC brought up 03 DBP. I'd lay a lot of money that DBP would have rolled all the teams NS did that year the same way.

In person: Neville, West Monroe, Evangel, John Curtis, Springdale (Ark), Arkansas High, Byrnes vs Evangel
On TV: Hoover, Miami Northwestern, STA, Lakeland, DLS, Byrnes, Colerain, Moeller, Lowndes County, Camden County, Valdosta, Skyline WA., Prattville, University (Memphis).
Thats all I believe, the good teams anyways. I've seen some of the Herbie games on TV with teams that don't need to be playing in front of a national audience. And I've seen many more Texas teams than you have, and most of the best Texas teams. Thats why you argueing about SLC beating North Shore is dumb. I don't argue about who's the best in California with you, because I don't care, and you, along with the state of California dont know.
Do you care to tell me why you've seen so many Texas games on TV?
Is it because that there are more Texas teams on TV than any where else? I bet so. More Texas teams are televised on a yearly basis, and more often. Thats a pretty good explanation. Nearly all the Texas teams you've seen are on TV at the end of December, on FOXSW playing in the state title game. If more states had the football product that Texas had, and had the statewide and national interest that Texas had, then maybe we could see more games through the season.

I've seen Texas's best teams since 2003, but I've also watched tapes of champions prior to that year, and random good teams.
Do you care to tell me why you've seen so many Texas games on TV?
Cause I like watching H.S. football. Anytime there's a game on T.V. that has some decent teams from certain states I'll watch. Ohio every Thursday has a game on FSOhio and STO.

No, they used to have games of the week every Thursday on FSSW. Now I use my satellite to catch local Texas stations. It's a box I paid a lot for. So it gets put to use.
