Yea, Armwood should have been sent to Texas instead of Miramar.I would also say that Armwood and Miami Central will be pretty good. Armwood returns almost everyone and Miami Central got a good transfer QB from somewhere (Miami Springs?) and returns some very good players.

Won't be much of a game. Especially if they come up this way... This is all speculation anyway.. At this time nothing is set in stone.
???????????
Since when is New Jersey, outside of Don Bosco, any sort of HS football power?
If Manatee gets through Florida's toughest expect DB to have their hands full. I like DB, having seen them play in several national games and respect their program but lets face it, they are fairly unique. Year in and year out there are 15-20 teams in Florida, Texas, California, etc. that are in the same class. I'm not saying each of those teams would beat DB every year, but DB certainly wouldn't walk into Florida, Texas, California, etc. and be handed a state title.

They also lose 3 OL's, one starting RB, both starting WRs, and the TE. ''
I think they return 5 starters total out of 22.

DB was very good this year. I would have taken Byrnes or STA over them all day. Lakeland was kind of down this year, so don't use them as a measuring stick for Florida ball (even though they went 13-1 and went on the road to Cali and pulled out a victory in a horribly played game). The teams this year in Florida were STA, Plant, Dwyer, and Manatee. There were also some other excellent squads that would give 99% of HS teams a good run for their money (Cocoa, Bolles, Glades Central, Armwood).
Again, no disrespect to DB, but they are not the top program in the USA. By the way, they play 12 games a year. Thats weak. And New Jersey is not on the same level as the top 6 states (Texas, Florida, California, Ohio, Georgia, Pennsylvania).

And New Jersey is not on the same level as the top 6 states (Texas, Florida, California, Ohio, Georgia, Pennsylvania). We actually have real weather here... Second, NJ is the best basketball state in america and probably the 2nd best wrestling state as well as hockey.. these sports are important here.. we're not trying to play football until mid december.. In Florida it's still 80 and sunny, but sorry, we have this thing called "snow"(google it, it's pretty interesting stuff).. Not to mention we start our season the 2nd week in september, by then you guys are already 5 games in and are on your second season of football (considering you have spring ball)
Hey listen, say what you want... You can take Byrnes and STA over Bosco.. That's fine.. Everybody took Prattville and DLS as well.
Bosco played the nations best junior running back this past year and put him on clamps, twice. If your thinking that Byrnes will run of Bosco just because of Lattimore, you're wrong. Bosco's front 7 was second to none in the country, and they may have had the best O-line in America as well. Byrnes was a run heavy team, and that plays right into Bosco's hands.
STA, with their aerial attack would've given Bosco a better game.. Still, I don't think they would've beaten them this year.
There's probably 5 teams in America as good as Bosco on a yearly basis.. DBP has finished in the top 25 poll something like 7 times the past 9 years, won a national championship, and won 7 state titles as well.... They finished #2, #6 and #8 in final polls in that spand as well... Not to mention in 2004 and 2005 the best teams in NJ was a Kyle Wilson/Malcolm Jenkins/Anthony Davis led Piscataway team in 2004 and a Knowshon Moreno led Middletown South team in 2005. Don't think NJ is all Bosco.. Because believe you me... We are not. This year will be the coming out party... When Bosco slaps Manatee into the dirt and finishes third in their league, maybe you'll open your eyes a bit.

Prattville was a great win for DB.

Also, I dont't think DLS was up to their standards this year. Lakeland played absolutely horrible and won the game against DLS on the road(had about 20 penalties, couldn't get anything going on offense for much of the game).
Prattville was a great win for DB.
DLS standards are being the best team in America for a period of 12 years... I would say they certainly weren't up to their "standards" as well.... But mind you, they certainly were no pushover. They destroyed Crenshaw, played Lakeland tight and beat up on everybody else on their schedule except an improving Serra team... They won the california open game, which is no small task.
Prattville, had they came to Jersey, would've gotten their heads chewed off.. There were several teams in NJ this year that would have beaten them or given them a great game.
The typical response from all outsiders is that Jersey has no depth... It's sincerely not the case.. The truth will come to fruition soon, and I have no doubts in my mind about that. As a state, we are really starting to open some eyes.. It's only a matter of time before we are mentioned with the Texas, Florida, California and Ohio group that you hear so much about... Not just because of Bosco... But because the teams in state are really expanding their horizons... When we finally decide to play down to at least group champions rather then just sectional champs, you'll see that barrier between good/great get crossed.. I promise.

That's not true.

Byrnes was balanced. I'd say their a passing team that runs the ball when teams drop to many into coverage.
STA, with their aerial attack would've given Bosco a better game.. Still, I don't think they would've beaten them this year.
I do

They didn't destroy Crenshaw. They won by 2 td's. The last coming late in the 4th quarter. Crenshaw had a ton of opportunities to tie the game up, and didn't.
They won the california open game, which is no small task.
It sure isn't hard for DLS. They have one good team they have to beat(State bowl opponent). The rest of their schedule is very easy.

1)Every team runs the ball when you drop too many into coverage.. That's football. Lattimore got a bulk of their touches.. I'd say they are a run balanced offense.
2) "Crenshaw had opportunities to tie the game and didnt" That's football.. Perhaps because they were playing a better opponent? A two TD win isn't a close game... 27-13 is a two TD win.. does that score look close to you? Not me. 14-0 is a two score win. 28-14 is a b*tch slapping.. Say what you want. 17-14, 21-20, hell even 28-21... those are close games.. 28-14?? uh uh.
3) Everybody on this board that Prattville to be the favorite up until Bosco handed DLS their heads. Same was said that DLS would beat them.. Everybody in California (that visits the nj board) and Alabama thought these games wouldn't be close... Well.. They were right..
4) Prior to the DLS/Crenshaw game, would you say Crenshaw was the best team in California? Some certainly did.. Hence how they got into the game. After the game it's a different story though.. of course.
5) I think SPP and BC both CAN beat Bosco this year, DBP will be the underdog in both bouts.... And Bosco will go undefeated OOS.. So will SPP and BC. Although nobody is playing a great OOS opponent.. Manatee won't beat Bosco.. It does work in their favor however, that they get to have a full season together before the actual fall football season starts... (spring season) We don't have that here...........
6) There may not have been a team in all of Florida beating Bosco.. whether you think different or not... 8 polls said there's not a team in America beating them...

2 Td games are all different. Some teams can score late and make 21 point games into 14 point games, but that wasn't the case in this game. This game was tied at halftime, and Shaw was down by 7 for most of the 4th quarter. Far from being destroyed.
3) Everybody on this board that Prattville to be the favorite up until Bosco handed DLS their heads. Same was said that DLS would beat them.. Everybody in California (that visits the nj board) and Alabama thought these games wouldn't be close... Well.. They were right..
Who are the clowns that visit the Jersey board? I think a lot of people on here had Bosco winning both games. I know I did, and I can archive those predictions if you want.
4) Prior to the DLS/Crenshaw game, would you say Crenshaw was the best team in California? Some certainly did.. Hence how they got into the game. After the game it's a different story though.. of course.![]()
No I wouldn't, nor would most Cali people. Did you not see how many Cali people were upset over Shaw being in the Open game? They squeaked by Lakewood(29-28), and Norco(47-44,Inland division semi finalists). Neither made the championship in their divisions. Lakewood was beaten by more points by Edison than what Crenshaw beat them by. Who did you see have Crenshaw as the top team in the state? Go check sectionsports and see the outrage over them being in the open game.

I've heard this before(2008), and Bosco beat every Jersey team by 20+.

I don't go by polls but by match ups.

I did see that everybody in California was pissed off about Crenshaw being in.. Myself included.. I would've much rather DLS beat up on Servite so then this conversation wouldn't be so dragged on.
You're right.. games can certainly look different.. But the scoreboad tells the tale of how the game went.. If Crenshaw was a worthy opponent they wouldn't of lost by 14.. whether a late TD took place or not, a TD still took place, and the score was still 28-14 when the final whistle blew.
dls35bosco7 in particular on the jersey board, some former jersey people that live in cali now, concha, and 9 hillbillies from Alabama. However I can't remember Concha making a statement on the game.
On 5), touche.. i'll concede.... SPP under achieves often i won't be surprised if I'm wrong again betting on those guys....
I hate polls... but in all sincerity, that's the only barometer we have when it comes to would have, could have and should have's by the time the season is over...
Side note.. I sincerely hate when you post under my post like that... LOL.

Couldn't agree more! Great post! Along with Texas, I believe that Florida has the best hs football, when it comes to talent and product on the field. California in terms of talent, and Ohio in terms of product on the field aint far behind.
I'm really tired of hearing about the Bosco Fighthing Power Rangers, and their dominance.

Agreed. They beat up on a bunch of Jersey JV squads. They play 12 games. What, do they have a 2 game playoff?
They are a damn good team and they did beat two tough teams (Prattville and a down DLS), but the NJ schedule and playoffs are a joke.
Texas champs play 16 games. Florida champs play 15 games.

Bosco's toughest game came against Bergen Catholic (NJ), 28-21... SPP gave them a run for their money in the finals and actually was kicking Bosco's azz in the third quarter. St. Joes Regional is a damn good football team. All three of these teams were ranked in the top 25 final poll on multiple occassions.
Their in state schedule was better then their OOS schedule according to the scoreboard.
They play 12 games, but 6 of those teams were as good or better then those teams that you're assuming would've went 12-0 with Bosco's schedule. If they beat up on 3 more cupcakes would that make you guys happier?
If they played a weak schedule, they wouldn't of finished number 1. Simple as that.

You seem to be a pretty smart guy, but I know you don't believe that. Bosco has no in-state threat, especially on a year when they are good. Just because teams in jersey have 9-1 records playing in-state competition, don't mean they are good. When I see a Rio Grand Valley team go undefeated in the regular season, I still know that they won't be a factor in the playoffs, because they have still not beat anyone. Same with El Paso teams. I regularly see Kansas teams getting praise like they are elite teams, because they go undefeated and have a long winning streaks, or have multiple state titles. Would those teams in Kansas, jersey, or the RGV, have the same success in places like Florida, Ohio, California, Georgia, or the rest of Texas? I highly doubt it, and I'm pretty sure you know better yourself.

Bosco's schedule was good. Anyone trying to discredit Bosco's schedule doesn't know what they're talking about.
