"Tanner Garcia, outfielder/pitcher, Sr., Cisco baseball — Though the Loboes (2-11, 0-4 District 6-2A) have struggled, they’ve had their share of bright spots — Garcia’s performance from last week being one of them.

Through a pair of losses to Merkel and Anson, Garcia was a combined 11-of-13, with two doubles, two runs scored and two steals."

Olney 5-4 Eastland.

At Albany, Eastland’s Gerardo Martinez laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to advance teammate Trent Brittain to second with with one out, while trailing by a run in the final inning. But when Olney pitcher Jesse Pollard neglected to cover third base, Brittain broke for the open bag.

Pollard recovered, however, and after racing to third to get the relay from first, he applied the tag on Brittain for a game-ending double play.

“He saw the open bag and was just being aggressive,” Eastland coach Todd Hatten said. “He was just trying to make something happen.”

Eastland closed its season at 18-9.
