I think the answer is yes as it appears the OL has worked out really hard this summer but lets see a couple of scrimmages first before any predictions.....just facts for now........The O-Line will be a mixture of about half Seniors and half Juniors with one returning starter who will be a Junior this year and he has and will again play both ways. Our offensive line was really good last year and this year's group will be smaller.... however, I think the hope/goal is that since we are smaller, they will be faster, quicker and more athletic than last years group but lets see what they do in pads in a couple of weeks....Leopardfan, How is the O-line potential in Lovejoy these days? I think most of the sstate title aspirations will hinge on how well they replace those linemen they lost. I saw some pretty good size boys in the videos on the internet of the linemen challegne. Anyone stepping up that you know of?

Who are the top 4 or 5 players stepping up for the farmers?
I have not watched a single practice yet this year so can't really comment on any kids that will be surprises. I think there are a good number of kids that will be very good. Of course Chase Wiggins will be good. As will Byron Brooks, Wes Dillon and several others. I think the Farmers will have a pack of very good running backs and fullbacks. From what I hear they also have had several kids agree to play that have not played in the past couple of years. Colton Monk for example was a dominating football player before he decided as a freshman to concentrate on only baseball. If he and Garrett Page decide to play this season the Farmers will be much, much tougher. SS will be better able to tell us if any of those kids have gone out for the team. How many kids did Lovejoy have go out for 2-a-days Leopardfan?

always know what you say......Leopard have been doing that every year including Monday morning at 12:01am with the whole community invited.
...and this year the UIL changed the rules.
No workout was to begin prior to 6AM on Monday.
If you had a 12:01 practice Monday morning this year, expect farmerFan to be writing his local UIL official.

1. Chase Wiggins (RB/DB)Returning district MVP, four year starter and only person left from state championship team of 2007. If he can be a leader and help mentor the newcomers and stay healthy this season, then he will be a force to be reckoned with again!
2. Byron Brooks (WR/DB)-would have had a breakout year last year if not for an injury. I look for him to pick up where his older brother left off and put up big numbers at receiver! Pre-season all district pick in my opinion. He will be an impact player for the Farmers!
3. Wes Dillon (QB/DB)Pivotal player here....Can he take over the reigns at the quarterback position? I know he has an excellent set of wheels. If he can remain calm and not force the issue which leads to turnovers, then he will be fine after a few games under his belt.
4. Justin Perez (OL/DL)one of the leaders of this team. One of the few returning starters. Excellent kid who can motivate and help keep the team focused. Another pre-season all district pick here!
5. Garret Page (OL/DL) After a two year absence from football, if he comes back and is focused, disciplined and ready to play, then he will be a major contributor for the Farmers as he is a BEAST and will help them greatly solidify their offensive and defensive lines!
Other players to watch: Trevor Redwine, Richard Gill, Austin York, Colton Monk (if he plays)

My opinion on the top 4-5 players for the Farmers that will be this years heart and soul of the team....

The more I think about it the more I'm inclined to think the defense for the Farmers might just be a pretty stout bunch this season. I'm thinking that the overall speed on the defense could actually be much higher than last years team. Have you watched a practice yet SS? If so how many kids came out for Football? I just hope they had at least 60. I heard on another site that Celina had over 200 kids show up for 2-a-days! Pretty much every boy in high school.......

Lovejoy already has a 600 student advantage on us CLF! I don't think they need additional practice time also!!!!
BTW: How's the miata and mama Fox???? Still wearing the tube tops and spandex?

You should investigate this midnight practice, out of fairness to everyone, and turn your findings over to the UIL. Just think of all the sportsmanship that will endear between The Sodbusters and the Lover's of Joy.
Miata runs much better without the mudders, just got back from el paso, led the caravan taking #22 to UTEP.
Summer time buddy, tube tops are few and far between.

Crazy,Good thing Rains isn't in your district anymore. They have a disticnt advantage.....
....The Rains Wildcats will be the first team in the area to hit the practice field on Monday. They’ll take to the field at 12:01 a.m. with what is being called a “Midnight Madness” session.
The Wildcats’ second practice of the two-a-day session is set for 6 p.m. on Monday.
University Interscholastic League teams are restricted to working in T-shirts, shorts and helmets until Friday, when they can don the pads for full contact drills....
Princeton has had several kids transfer in since they got their new coach and new stadium. They have an open enrollment, I have heard that it's a good posibility that they will have close to 870 kids in High School by the time it starts. They are trying to catch up with the rest of the schools that look to bolster their numbers and athletes in order to compete and don't care who or from where they come from! Nice facilities do help people make that jump and they should be pretty decent.

Actually Colton Monk is not playing but as of now Garrett Paige is! Not a good turnout though i think there is about 68 total and 24 are freshman but we are used to being stuck as a school with one of the lowest enrollments playing schools with 900+ kids Thanks UIL!!
