there are still questions to be answered

#1 Is Lovejoy unstoppable this year?
#2 If so, is Prosper the team to try to beat?
#3 Is Lone Star going to pull a "Lovejoy" on the district?
#4 Are Farmersville's glory days over?
#5 Is this the year Prosper breaks thier decades long playoff drought?
#6 Does Community have enough players to even compete this year?

confused by question number five; prosper won state in 2008 and has turned into a perennial 3A power including losing to Lovejoy in the quarterfinals last year. Confused on playoff drought question?

Prosper lost their big time incoming junior defensive end. The guy was monstrous. Mario Edwards. I think he's moving to Denton Guyer. And he's a huge loss for them

Congrats to Lovejoy on being the top 3A school in athletics in the state. I'll probably be a little more quiet this year when comes to bragging on my team. With the addition of the bigger schools into the district, Community is going to struggle. If somehow, SOMEHOW, the Braves can beat Farmersville, I might be little more excited. There just isn't much interest in football in this neck of the woods. They don't even have enough to field a 7-on-7 team sometimes. I will see how they do against Melissa and Caddo Mills and then Van Alstyne, all very good football programs. But like I said, the games against Prosper and Lovejoy are going to be killers. There's One good thing about the Lovejoy game, it will be in Lucas so ya'll won't have to cram into our little stadium. Happy Fourth everyone!!! :)

1. No Lovejoy won't be unstoppable this year. Although they likely will be very good they are not a guarantee to even win this district.
2. My personal feelings are that Prosper will be very beatable now that Mario has gone away. They still have the fast little RB but lost a whole bunch. I think Prosper will win the district.
3. I have no idea about Lonestar. Unless I'm mistaken they are all underclassmen so I will say they will struggle to earn a 3rd or 4th place finish in this district.
4. The Farmers will still have some pretty good athletes and will be competitive. How competitive will be determined by how many players step up and surprise everyone. I've never held back my opinion that this coach is not a very good coach and this year should tell the whole story.
5. I think Princeton will be the dark horse of this district. Their JV has been awesome and basically whipped the crap out of everybody the last couple of years. I also heard they had some move-ins. It would not surprise me to see Princeton make the playoffs and maybe even earn the second spot ahead of Lovejoy.
6. Community is done! I don't think they win a game. Perhaps 1-9 on the season. I just hope the 1 win isn't against the Farmers!

My district prediction:

Prosper
Princeton
Lovejoy
Farmersville
Lonestar
Community

WOW; Farmers Fan never dissapoints; nothing is guaranteed because injuries can decimate any team but since everyone is mostly healthy right now...what are your predictions based on besides teh Princeton JV squad..........you have Lovejoy, the semi finalist from state coming back with 16 returning starters, most of them three year starters, that soundly beat Prosper in the quarter finals and you pick LJ third in district if Lonestart doesnt beat us out. just say you hate Lovejoy and be done with the analysis. Prosper is returning 8 starters and Princeton has 13 starters back from a team that had nothing last year to get excited about that I could see on the field. Princeton will be better but did you watch them play last year? their JV team did not beat LJ. Dave Campbell picked LJ #1 in State where I might have picked Brownwood or another team but I just want to go on record as saying that I appreciate you at least giving us a shot at making the playoffs this year.

[/quI apoligize! My browser is acting really funny with this site. I can't see what I am typing.

Leopardfan! Why are you so sensitive to what i say? I said Lovejoy would be good. Does everyone have to jump on the Lovejoy hype bandwagon? Of course injuries will hurt any team and Lovejoy is no exception. All indications are that Lovejoy should win a state title this year but I'm not convinced last year wasn't a One-Hit-Wonder. M. Means was very, very good in the playoffs and I have my doubts that he will be able to reproduce that kind of play. If I'm wrong I will admit it and support Lovejoy in the playoffs just like I did last year. I guess it seems a little arrogant of you to get indignate that I don't pick your team to win a state title when the fact is they should FIRST set their goal on winning their 1st district title. And I don't "hate" Lovejoy any more than I dislike Prosper, Lonestar or any other 3A school with 4A numbers. I just think the gap between bottom enrollment numbers and top enrollment numbers are way to big of an advantage. Sorry if you find it disappointing. One good run in the playoffs doesn't make the Leopards a shue in in my opinion. but I will support them. ote]

I think ole FF there has some valid points. I don't agree with his district prediction. One thing is for sure...This district just got a whole lot tougher with the addition of Prosper! I think the district title is Lovejoy's to lose! It will come down to Prosper and Lovejoy for the title and they both have turf, so it doesn't matter if it rains or not. They will not have to worry about a sloppy field and I think they will be victorious against a Prosper team that lost several key players. Rumor has it though that Prosper just got tough very good running back move ins from Frisco Heritage....We shall see if this rumor turns out to be true or not. If it does, then I think it swings the edge back to Prosper for the district title. Either way, the district title will come down to Lovejoy and Prosper. That leaves the 3rd place spot, which I think the Farmers will take. The Farmers do have some talent moving up and will be competitive regardless of who they are playing. I have heard that Princeton had a bunch of move ins that played jv ball last year and will be eligible to play varsity ball this year and that they are going to be much improved. Dave Campbell has em picked to get 3rd place, however I am having difficulty accepting that having seen Princeton's track record in football! Until they prove otherwise, I am picking the Farmers to get 3rd place. Farmersville's playoff chances come down to coaching. If this coach can win a few close ballgames and not give them away like he has in the past, then the Farmers advance to the playoff's. If he repeats several of his past mistakes in tight ballgames, then the Farmers miss the playoff's! I personally think the Farmers are fully capable talent wise to make the postseason. It may be a while, especially in this district with the likes of Lovejoy and Prosper, to win another district title, but I think they are fully capable of being very competitive and making the playoff's again! My predictions are as follows

Lovejoy
Prosper
Farmersville
Princeton
Lonestar

yeah yeah yeah, Community will finish last, but expect the usual battle on Oct. 8. At least we can put some players on the field then before Lovejoy and Prosper tear us up.

Alright fellas, August is here(if you read this 4 hours from now). At this point, we are pretty sure who will be challenging for the top spot in district. That being said, it looks like the road to the playoffs will go through Farmersville. In the eyes of Community and Princeton, upsetting the Farmers look to be the only way to get into the post season. But....there is another factor to be considered....Lone Star. We have learned our lesson about underestimating the new teams. Well, Farmersville handled it well, but still, watch for Lone Star to catch people off guard.
I have heard from the 2 coaches from Nevada and Farmersville, and they are both optimistic and look forward to the challenge. Of course they would say that.

Good thing Rains isn't in your district anymore. They have a disticnt advantage.....

....The Rains Wildcats will be the first team in the area to hit the practice field on Monday. They’ll take to the field at 12:01 a.m. with what is being called a “Midnight Madness” session.

The Wildcats’ second practice of the two-a-day session is set for 6 p.m. on Monday.

University Interscholastic League teams are restricted to working in T-shirts, shorts and helmets until Friday, when they can don the pads for full contact drills....

welcome back....yep, I am afraid that Princeton might have the upper hand. The only thing that the Braves have got going for them is their O-Line. Maybe they can give #11 some time to throw the ball down the field to Paul Blasingame. Maybe. It must suck to lose your star players. Can't wait for Sept. 3.

It seems you have already decided who will win the district. Although Prosper and Lovejoy would seem to have the upper hand it is not decided yet. I seem to remember most ppeople felt Lovejoy had the upper hand last season also. Knowing the huge number of starters that the Farmers lost I have a hard time saying they will beat Lovejoy but anything is possible and it wouldn't take too many injuries to bring both Lovejoy and Prosper back to the pack some. The only thing I know for sure is that it will take a much better effort than last season to win this district for any team.(except maybe Prosper). They would seem to have an easier path to a district title. Lovejoy seems to be everyone's favorite and probably rightfully so but I will simply wait and see.

Leopardfan, How is the O-line potential in Lovejoy these days? I think most of the sstate title aspirations will hinge on how well they replace those linemen they lost. I saw some pretty good size boys in the videos on the internet of the linemen challegne. Anyone stepping up that you know of?
