Word is that Malcolm verbally committed to UT tonight. I'm glad to see him stay in the state to play his college ball. It is very refreshing to see a 5 star recruit announce without calling his own press conference to do so! Well done Malcolm Brown!!!

He should really open up the Texas attack.

Hw needs to watch himself so he doesn'y get hurt this year.

I remember a great running back out of San Antonio a few years back. Someone did a horse collar tackle on him and wiped out one of his knee's. That ended his football.

I have seen him, Green, Kenny Williams, Woods, Sims and Nemechi(SP?). He is not as fast as Adrian Peterson, nor is he the fastest or most powerful back. I think Sims was the best back that i saw, followed by a GAP, then the others, but each has a weakness. Brown reminds me of a slightly larger Cedric Benson, with about the same speed. He plays in the I-formation vs some very unathletic teams in the SA area. Green plays 5A in the best SA district and can play I or spread. Williams and Woods are wing-t FBs, but would be I-backs in anyone else's offense. If Woods knee wasn't injured I'd straight up say he was better than Brown. KC at Cinco Ranch look like Brown, but bigger and about the same speed or a little slower.

There's a reason he's the highest ranked back in the nation

Here's a link to Malcolms youtube Highlight film. Judge for yourself (Didnt see the video above, his post took awhile to load, sorry Bro}

Malcolm Brown Highlights

Aaron Green's talent at #5 is also awesome, it's very exciting having 2 top ranked RB's in the area. Im sure the split between 1 and 5 is minute at best. Got my tickets, see you there.

OK, Brown is a legit 220 pounder and most likely a bit heavier. He's been clocked at 4.44 in the 40 so I think that'll do when you combine that with his speed and size!

You are as biased as any person I've ever seen on these boards in that you have nothing but crap to post about R4 teams and players. I don't know why but that is a pure fact! I would think that all the recruiting sites have him at #1 for a reason, or are you smarter then all of them and all the college coaches that tried to recruit him??? You make yourself look pretty dumb with a lot of your comments on this board! Sims is a heck of a player, he is not better then Malcolm Brown! Woods and Williams are both good but not even in MB's league and that is a fact! You are a Centex guy and your opinion is as biased here as can get!

Malcolm Brown is indeed the real deal. The problem this year is that Steele's O line is avg to below avg. Also, Coach Jinx ONLY knows how to run a 1-dimensional offense, which let's opposing defenses key on Malcolm EXCLUSIVELY with no fear that Jinx will ever seriously go to a balanced offense. It is highly possible Malcolm will get injured as Jinx will run him up the middle even when opposing defenses put 9 guys in the box. I've seen Jinx do that 3 years running. It's really sad to watch.

It's actually surprising Jinks has not stepped down voluntarily. This has essentially been the most talented group of players in the State with no coach 3 years running. I fear Malcolm will get beat up badly as Jinks' laziness and inability to coach and have balanced game plans puts Malcolm direclty at risk. To me, akin to voluntary manslaughter to risk 1 of the best backs in the country by running into the teeth of 9-man defensive fronts whose only mission is to stop Malcolm. Sad was not the right word to use by me in a previous post, criminal negligence is a better way of describing the coaching situation at Steele.

Dent, you could possibly be the most ignorant person on the face of planet earth. I bet if he doesn't give Malcolm the rock you're the same guy bitching and moaning how he's not using his best player. Just be quiet. You're not in the locker room, you have no idea what a phenomenal coach he is. Has he made some mistakes in his coaching career? Yes. He called a perfect game against LT last year and the Quarterback cost them that game. He can only coach them, he can't make the plays for them, and thats what it comes down to. When i read your posts, all i do is laugh about how absolutely ridiculous and ignorant you sound. You talk like Jinks is trying to lose the game? Jinks comes into each game with the full intent of bringing the best game plan possible that gives the knights the best chance to win. Not anything less. Quit hogging all the ignorance, leave some for the rest of us. Idiot.

I was at the LT game last year. I saw Jinks piss that game away literally. That was the most horrific and frightening clock maanagment I've ever seen. The LT folks we talked with after the game said they thought Jinks was on their side. That 'bout says it all. No clock managment, no strategy, just run up the middle. Running a player up the middle is not a game plan, it's a play - 1 of many on any team except Steele. You seem agitated. You should be.

CLASS 5A
DIVISION II
REGION IV FINAL

Cibolo Steele (11-2) vs. SA MacArthur (12-1)
Notes: The final game in Class 5A (in order of region and division) is a delightful one. We all know the Steele storyline — Longhorn-bound running back Malcolm Brown, the expected savior of UT's 2011 running game and the central offensive weapon behind the Knights' run in their first year in 5A. Pair him with Ryan Simmons, a star LB, and Marquis Anderson, an exceptionally good defensive tackle, and you might be leading the state in individual talent. But Mike Jinks has actually done a great coaching job this season, finding a way to work together enough talent to supplement those three stars and turn it into a true team, one that can actually contend for a state title. But MacArthur has looked like that kind of crew all year, winning behind the efforts of QB Clinton Killough, TE Jace Amaro (Texas Tech-bound) and young runner Darik Dillard ... and, of course, the efforts of a number of supplementary players on both sides of the ball. I think MacArthur is going to get to the mid-30s in points. But can Steele get there, too? Even with Brown, I'm not sure the Knights are offensively potent enough to keep pace with that."

What's up? I'm back...long story. How about those Steele Knights? Total domination over favored MacArthur. In 4 seasons, I have not seen Steele play at the level they are at right now. The passing game, which has been in a dormant state, waiting to erupt has not been stopped during the playoffs. Teams are putting 8 in the box to stop Malcolm (HAHAHA!) and they get burned deep by Blake Gardner and a couple of other receivers. Malcolm is most dangerous when Steele spreads the offense/defensive front and runs a quick pitch that cuts off the tackle. If the outside LB fails to slow this attack, the result is usually a big gain.

Steele's defense has no weaknesses. A local writer put it best by writing the Brahmas had been held under 210 yards rushing in a game only twice this season, both times by New Braunfels. Steele limited MacArthur (12-2) to 89 yards on 23 carries, 65 of those yards by quarterback Clinton Killough. RB Darik Dillard, who was within 91 yards of a 2000 yard rushing season, managed only two yards on six carries, although he did catch four passes for 48 yards.

The defense also intercepted QB Killough three times, after Killough had thrown only three interceptions all season. Ross Luensmann had two picks, including one deflected by a MacArthur receiver, and Ryan Simmons had the other.

It was a hard hitting game, which took its toll on MacArthur. David Eberwine, Darik Dillard, and Troy Brown all left the game due to injury, and Jace Amaro had to leave the game periodically as well. MacArthur's Amaro was brilliant, catching a career-high three touchdowns and approaching career highs with seven catches for 117 yards, but Steele appeared content to let Amaro have his yards and shut down everyone else.

MacArthur had a great team. That TE Jace Amaro is a beast and will be very good at Texas Tech next season...needs to work on his attitude a bit, IMO. MacArthur fans turned out in force, supported their team and showed class by most staying until the final whistle.

Steele will play in San Antonio next week against Houston Memorial at a stadium in which they played in as much as their home field.
