Looks like some upsets early on. Is Ennis that bad or Arlington Sequin that good?

Good question! I don't know yet, I guess we will find out. Seguin has good size and speed which is usually a good winning combination. Ennis moved the ball pretty well, just had trouble finishing drives.

Well looks like we found out. Seguin looked terrible vs Poteet, with mistakes all over the place. Not moving the ball in the 2nd half did not help either. 2 first downs in the 2nd half are not gonna win you a game. ;) Now as to what this says about Ennis? Hope it was an off week. Or maybe Poteet is that good.

BTW I did not notice much speed from Seguin at all tonight. Some size but looked slow.

On the other hand Poteet was hitting on all cylinders where it counts most. Defense and Special Teams. Putting the offense in good positions and the offense making it work. If Poteet can keep playing at this level they will be a tough team in district.

I guess we found out Seguin isn't that great. Poteet didn't win any games last year, did they? Now they have a new coach....I guess he's got things pointed in the right direction. Typically, all the teams in our district are pretty good. So, it should be an interesting ride this season. I guess we'll see what Ennis shows us tonight against 5A Keller Fossil Ridge. In our game with Seguin, special teams was a killer for us........we started at the 20 or inside the 20 all night long, while Seguin started at the 40 or 50, or even closer.

The new head coach at Poteet is 100% better than the previous one. He gave up on last season before it started. The kids are pumped up and the team is rolling. They went win less last season. So much for them finishing 9th in this district as Dave Campbell predicted. Honestly they look like a playoff team to me. The new coach has them all fired up and kicking **** so far. Next week will be a test to see if they can get past Terrell.

The game I was at tonight, Highland Park vs Monterrey Prep, was an interesting one. HP was too much for Prep Tec to keep up with. They called off the dogs 2nd half and won 56-30. The boys from across the border were pretty decent, but lacked a strong QB.

Yeah, Poteet usually has a strong program. Good to see them back on track. However, that will make it even tougher in district for my Lions.

I bet that was an interesting game against the Mexico school. That's cool that you got a chance to see that.

Sure, you can pick Poteet. I'm real interested in how this game turns out. Red Oak seems pretty good.

Looks like the homer pick wins. I debated switching games at half time. Denton Ryan and Mesquite were tied up at the half and it was 14-0 at the other game. Needless to say I picked the wrong game. Anyhow Poteet now has an inside track at a playoff spot. For Poteet, Corsicana is a huge game. They should roll over Ennis and beat Forney. The tough games are obviously West, Hachie and Lancaster.

Congrats to Jake Brown and the Midlothian Panthers on their huge district win over the Cedar Hill Longhorns. Midlothian knocked off Cedar Hill 27 to 20 last Friday night in District 5-5A action. Jake Brown, who led the Ennis Lions to the State Championship in 2004, is the safeties coach at Midlothian. Keep up the great work Jake!
