I know, I know. You're shocked. Tech is posting a topic about baseball? Has the whole world gone mad?!!
I've been watching sportscenter the past couple days and I notice the big stink about Alex Rodgriguez faking that he got hit by a pitch. The ball had, in fact, only hit the end of his bat. But Rodriguez did some acting, the opposing coach did some arguing and got ejected, and A-Rod was given 1st base.
So why can't the MLB expand the use of replay to include instances like this? I understand that there's all of that "tradition" stuff. Somehow people think it will affect the legacy of the game if more fair calls are made. Seems to me like the MLB owes it to the greats of the game (past and present) to use everything at their disposal to make sure that the games are as fair as possible so that no one can question the integrity of professional baseball.
Let me know what you think or if I'm just totally off-base... whatever...

OK...
1. It was Jeter not A-Rod.
2. MLB is stupid not to adopt a more in-depth instant replay.
3. Selig wants to be like Stern and have 100% control over his league.

My bad. Knew it was one of the two, just wasn't totally sure which so I guessed A-Rod.

definitely there is use for instant replay in baseball...i'd like to see it used in the final 3 innings of the game on calls that are clearly missed or questionable so to speak.
The problem I feel though is that like in football and other sports there are a lot of areas within the game of baseball that replay may or may not fix and it adds time. For example I'm saying what is reviewable and what is not reviewable. that's what is real confusing about watching replay in football. I think that is what baseball is attempting to avoid. they want to keep things simple by just not having it all together. but you never want to see one play decide a game or a perfect game on the last out like earlier in the year.
