"The search for Dublin's next head football coach and athletic director is down to three finalists who are going through a final round of interviews this week, according to superintendent Shaun Barnett.

Barnett plans to present a lone finalist to the Dublin school board for approval next Monday.

Barnett would not disclose names of the finalists, but multiple sources have reported that one is Henderson Junior High Principal Bob Cervetto. Cervetto was a long-time coach at Stephenville, taking part in state championship runs as part of Art Briles' staff.

Barnett previously confirmed receiving 82 applications for the opening. A search committee narrowed the list of candidates to eight who were called in for first-round interviews.

"I've continued to be pleased with the entire process," Barnett said. "We had a great number of quality candidates and the committee has done a good job of selecting three highly-qualified finalists."

The job opened shortly after the end of the regular season when Keith Owen stepped down to return to his previous role as assistant principal at Dublin High School.

The Lions were winless last season and are just 2-28 the last three years."

"The Karnes City school district has received 128 applications for the position of athletic director and head football coach.

Tom Warlick announced in December he would resign as athletic director and head football coach to become the high school principal.

Warlick had a record of 59-41 in his nine seasons as head coach that included seven playoff appearances.

The Badgers went 9-2 last season and advanced to the Class 2A, Division II bi-district playoffs.

The Karnes City school district is expected to begin interviewing candidates later this month and hire Warlick's replacement at the Feb. 14 board of trustees meeting."
