What do you think the Cowboys record would be right now if Jason Garrett had been the HC at the very beginning of the season? I think the Cowboys record right now would probably rival that of Atlanta, or maybe a win better.

....dunno know 4 sure...wasn't Jason calling the offensive plays already??
Don't know if Wade was overriding Jason's called plays and "inserted" his own?? :detective:

no, but it's pretty clear that the complete attitude of the team changed when wade left. they are 3-2 under jason and lost very close games to N.O. and Philly which will probably be the teams that I would pick to be in the NFC title game. they beat up on the giants on the road and the game against the colts was impressive considering that the colts were in do or die mode.
however, I still wouldn't put them at the top of the nfc because their defense is still giving up way too much through the air. rex grossman had 322 yards against them? are you kidding me? I think at best they would be in contention for a WC spot if jason were the ocach. you have to give him credit though. they are competing hard for him...unlike what they did for phillips. they were mailing it in during that green bay game. Unfortunately jerry jones, was like me and looked at the minnesota game last year as a fluke. the cowboys defnese gave up a lot of big plays through the air in that game. and that performance has spilled over to this season. no upgrades when there were some needed. There is much more to being a head coach than calling plays or X's and O's. You have to be able to lead and inspire your men or they will not perfoform the their highest level/potential. clearly that is what wade was lcking. all of the great ones have to have that trait.

It's very clear that things changed under Garrett. At 1-7, the Cowboys only scored 30+ points once. That was Oct. 25th against the Giants in a losing effort. Up to that point, Dallas was averaging 20.1 points per game on offense. Since Garrett took over, they've been averaging 32.2 points on offense. +12 points average can mean a lot. And they only missed breaking 30 points twice -- both times by 3 points. That +12 would have (theoretically) translated into approximately 5 more wins.

Defensively, at 1-7, Dallas was allowing 29 points per game under Wade Phillips. Under Garrett, It's 27.3 points. So that's a slight reduction of 1.7 points. That definitely needs to improve But again, remember the +12 offensively. If you combine that with the reduction in points allowed, you get a +13.7 (so we'll go 14), which would translate into a theoretical 6 wins, which, right now would put Dallas at 10-4, approximately.
