ww.semi

He wasn't an All-American. He was a FRESHMAN All-American.

After his freshman year he didn't earn a single accolade on the field. He was a big, hyped kid coming out of high school and he played extensively as a freshman. So he was an All-American. After that he had to earn his keep on the field and he didn't. I watched nearly every game of his career and he never did anything.

Same with Will Hill. I watched nearly every Florida game during his career and he never made any plays.

And no. You're not. Pennsylvania isn't even #5. They're being displaced by places like Georgia and Louisiana.

Jersey boy! :coolthumb: (sorry, had to.)

I agree about 1983 Nebraska; however the Hurricanes caught them by surprise on New Year's Day down in Miami. That Miami team doesn't rank anywhere; so Nebraska has to be left off the list as well. If Nebraska had won like they should have; they would be in the top 3.

That's an awful lot of nothing on the field. Just give it up, man. He was the most overrated player this side of Will Hill.

hey nooner i got a question, there is a team i know no one ever heard of called Rush-Henrieta. yeah thats the name. anyways, they went 13-0 and finished number 1 in the state of New York. why arent they considered one of the top teams in the country??? i thought great football came from all regions. is 6 or 7 publications wrong? do only the people that know about the school know how great they are? what makes Bosco better? they went 13-0, and Bosco only went 12-0. lol.

is it all a mirage? you have to have a name brand right? only STA, Panola, DLS, Trinity can only compete??? tell me why a 13-0 team from the same area of Bosco cannot even be considered for anything.

This is just my opinion, but the best team in NY this past fall was Aquinas Institute (Rochester), hands-down. They played the toughest schedule in the state and only had one team come within a touchdown of them. I wouldn't consider them a "national power" by any stretch but they were certainly one of the best teams in the Northeast, as they were regionally ranked in both the PrepNation and USA Today polls.

Just as a quick example, Aquinas beat Erie Cathedral Prep out of Pennsylvania, 39-14. That same ECP team made it to the AAA semifinals in Pa. and lost to Bp. McDevitt (24-21) after taking a huge early lead. McDevitt then lost by a point in the state final to Allentown Central Catholic. Given the fact that Aquinas manhandled a team that was pretty evenly matched with ACC and McDevitt, I think it's safe to say that Aquinas could have played with anyone in Pennsylvania last year.

Here is some video of two of their BCS-level recruits that will be coming back for 2011:

The best team in all of New England is Everett, Mass. They'd get tore up by the big dogs in TX or FL in my honest opinion.

Everett could play with most teams in the Northeast but you put them up against the "big dogs" as you say in places like Texas and the southeastern part of the country and they wouldn't fare as well.

The thing about Everett is they have better overall athleticism than most teams in New England (outside of Brockton, whom they didn't play this year) and they are well coached on both sides of the ball.

The difference between them dominating up here and competing in the South is that teams down there would have superior athletes. Everett didn't play one team this year that could match up with them speed-wise. That wouldn't be the case if they played a Lakeland or whomever.

Look for Cocoa to play Skyline at the Herbstreit this year and STA to make a return in 2012.

STA's making a return trip to Dallas to play Skyline or another opponent?

Yes but since it's so far away and we don't even have our 2011 schedule confirmed I'll hold off on giving out the name just yet.

The Cocoa and Skyline thing should be good to go for 2011.

Agreed. I certainly don't mean it as a knock on Everett because they have a fine team. But you're right, outside of Brockton there's nobody. Weather obviously has a lot to do with more players being developed down south.

I still swear the Brockton teams in the mid 80's to '90 were some of the best teams I've ever seen. They were just destroying good teams. They were nationally ranked between #1-10 year-in and year-out. Brockton is still a top 5 New England team today but nowhere near as explosive as back then.

Yeah, those Brockton teams were stacked. Teams in Massachusetts refused to play them so they were forced to go out of state and they fared very well. Everett's dominated recently but they haven't really challenged themselves with any big out-of-state games. I think some of the Catholic Conference teams have shown decent potential. In the next few years some of those programs will become pretty strong because they are well coached and getting better talent each year.

I think STA will only play a Texas team they think they can foresure win against like Skyline last year or maybe a great team from 2010 that graduated most everyone for this year. The thing about it is when these teams get invited ofcourse they want to play and get national attention. I think Skyline and Cocoa will be a good game though.
