This Texas vs Florida pissing contest has definitely run it's course. The same arguments are surfacing again and again. Both states are heavy weights and have unprecedented feats in these series; Florida's in the defensive department and Texas on the offensive output. There are numerous examples to cite. Suffice to say that any given year one state may be better than the other but overall they are close.

Texas and Fla match each other in depth and overall quality as both states make up about 20-25% of a national polls top 100 teams. Here is one truth I have learned. One scrub from one of these states will not beat a top team from the other. Typically, who is favored to win will and vice versa. This tells me the states are comparable. Cocoa was a top 10 Fla team and beat Abilene, which is what I would expect from a top 10 team from Tx. STA beat down a good team in Skyline, which is exactly what happened when they played a top team in Texas.

Did I miss anything or this fairly accurate??

Sounds about right.

It's just fun to see what inane response lamar will come up with next.

I know it's a little early since spring ball has not kicked off yet, but what teams are looking to be tops this year in Fla?

In Texas things will shift around a little. In no particular order:

1. Allen
2. Trinity
3. Katy
4. Judson
5. Longview
6. Northshore (very young, 2014 class will rival the 2003 team)
7. SLC

In New Jersey's case I think there is a good team that is just a solid as the top teams in Texas. I am confident that Bsoco would compete and be a strong, reputable program like Trinity and Katy, not necessarily better. I don't hold as much respect for the other NJ programs b/c they have not beaten Bosco in like 5-6 years!! Until they make things more competitive in state they don't deserve that level of national prominence. That might change if BC soundly beats Cocoa. I've stated before, the other teams in NJ need to earn their reputation on their own or beat Bosco every now and then.

i totally agree about tx having 4 teams as good as bosco (generally speaking) last year I think they only had one, trinity.

as to BC, they are a very good team like your 4-8 teams
same with SJR

the point is TX has 4 bosco's 4 BC's and 4 SJr's

as to BC, they beat the pA state titel finalist last year, not too shabby.
They have 5 national top 25 finishes in USA TODAY final polls
Same with SJR,
so they don't need to prove anything, you need to do some research

it's understandable to not know top programs from other states

as to bc at coica
RIDICULOUS

bc should never have accepted the game
bc has their worst team in over a decade next year
the coach is over reaching too soon, he just took over
his team last year (his first year) was a gift from the last coach and he needed to be patient
I am pissed that he would take this game as it WILL make NJ look weaker than it is
BC is simply not a top 20 team preseason in NJ next year.
I expect Bosco will beat them by 60 this year

the new coach wants to be like Toal without paying his dues

that's the world we live in, no one wants to earn a damned thing

just show up and get a participation award

my apologies in advance on this one.

last year BC was the real deal, they shot their load

in two or three years, they will again be for real

BTW, if you do a search you will see (on NJ.com) that I said this last year at this time. Bc was supposed to have a great team last year as they did, then the **** hits the fan till the new coach gets his kids in

everyone in NJ knew last year was BC's big chance to take down Bosco

In fact, they were supposed to beat Bosco last year preseason, they were the preseson favorite, and they did their job, Toal just coached Bosco into a different zone

you guys have no clue how good toal is i mean it it simply does not get any better than him it just doesn't
Toal did his best coaching job ever, that team last year was sick young

trouble this year is he is expected to bring home another national title but the team may still be a year away. they are troubled at running back and qb. with their schedule, they could fall. all teams do eventually

hey nooner, if you have stock in Calpreps check the projection part for 2011, it predicts Bergen will crush Cocoa and beat STA soundly. plus it has the 2011 Bergen team projected to be better than any team from 2010 from Texas, and only losing to STA 31-30. how much do u believe in Calpreps

that is irrelevant

they have not played a game yet

Cal ranks on performance

it clearly sttaes that they are not accurate until at least 3 games are played

as far as 2011 goes right now, cal is no differant than Dallas Jackson, useless

in fact matbe Dallas wrote that!

cal is the high school basketball equivalent of the RPI in college basketball, it is not a predictor of outcome but it is better than any biased man mad poll. Especially when the poll is done by one man like Rivals or Prep Nation. Although jamie does do a good job.(still you can predict his bias most times)

I just went over to check, they have no 2011 projections. What are you talking about? If you meant 2010, BC may well have beat STA. I would not be surprised at all.

That's some moral victory BS you've got going for you.

It was 24-13 with 1 minute left in the game - sure, Abilene would have had this if not for that plague of locusts, then the freak snow storm that hit mid 4th quarter, followed by the sinkhole that formed at midfield and slowed down Abilene's momentum.

Cocoa won state in a class smaller than what Abilene is - and they were played tougher by EVERY team in that playoff run than what Abilene did...in big bad Texas 5A, where there's SO much depth.

- If the DEPTH in Texas is so great, then a 9 win Skyline in big, tough 5A should be able to beat Glades Central, which is the size of a Texas 4A. NOPE - but a crappy 6-5, FL 5A beat Glades Central.

If DEPTH were so great in Texas, then Abilene should have beaten Cocoa, a school the size of a Texas 4A.

In 2009, Aledo won a 4A title by 14 points, yet lost to a 5-5 5A Weatherford. Cocoa is the size of Aledo and won their title, yet beat a 5A team that won nearly double the games of that 5A that beat a 4A Texas title team from just 2009. The MYTH of Texas "depth" strikes again.

- Desoto, 4 rounds deep in 5A DI beats Miramar by 1 point, in OT. Miramar lost in the 2nd round of 6A, and also lost to a 3A 1st round loser. Looks like a "depth" team from Florida ran pretty well with a team that went very deep in 5A DI. DEPTH.

:blahblah1:

Ha Ha Desoto a nobody beat Miramar that was ranked way better in Fl over all than Desoto in Texas. Desoto won.

I agree Abilene should have beaten Cocoa after their D manhandled Cocoa for most of the game. But dont forget Abilene beat Plant pretty good, a team that was a little better than Cococa. And dont forget Cocoa won a state championship in Florida and Abilene didnt even come close in Texas.

This to Noonreal to Bosco is a equal to Trinity last year is a complete joke. Texas had more then 10 teams that were much stronger than Bosco last year. You are a fool if you believe Bosco was a top 5 in the nation last year.

they do have 2011 projections, check the part that says (project a matchup) and it starts out with 2011 state vs state. i dont put stock in Calpreps, you do, you were saying this years Bergens team sucks, so if they get killed its easy to defend it. what preseason state ranking would you give Bergen?? top 10, at least, and so will Cocoa, so according to you its an even matchup. NJ's top 10 can hang with anybody's top 10 right???

wrong on every account

first fl has more good football programs than does bosco

I have been totally constant about this. Not better more. So Fl has two teams that would be #1 in NJ, two that would be #2, 2 that would be number 3 and so on. conversely they have two terrible teams for every one terrible team NJ has. So a #10 team in NJ is about a #20 in FL.

Read my posts. BC will not be a top 20 team in NJ next year. That means they will not be a top 40 in FL. Hence Cocoa should destroy them.

as to cal, i looked and no 2011 is available.
if if what you say were true it is irrelevant and i already explained why. are you understanding things yet?

Why don't people here read the posts? My posts are very consistent. You can disagree but you cannot say they are not consistent,.

you played no team last year as strong as BC so you don't know how you would have done

you did receive higher ranking than BC last year but you did not have to face Bosco, twice.

you actually think that Camden County is 847th in the nation? they beat a natioanl top 15 team, lost 2 games, 1 to the MNC, and the second to a playoff team in class 5A Georgia. no one thinks camden county is 847. maybe camden nj

even Dallas (I only rank teams from the south) Jackson did not have them on his top 100.

they have top 100 credentials. moreso than teams from massachusetts or kansas. they play in the largest class in the top 5 states for football in the country. maybe top 7 at worst. they beat a team that was in everybody's top 25. and lost 2 games, 1 to the MNC. who else in the top 100 can say that with 2 losses?

they loss to the team who got beat by the class 5 state champion. so the team they loss to went 3 rounds deep, and ran into the state champion. not a crummy team. Bergen loses twice to bosco, beats 10 other scrubs and they rank them top 50?? nooner, are you secretly on the calpreps staff?
