It's finally time. I have decided to include dist. 10 in this thread just so there will be more participation. Both districts share common opponents for the most part including Melissa, who is going to be a handful for anyone that plays them.
Here are this weeks games:

Argyle vs. Lovejoy in Lucas....perhaps the game of the week in all of 3A
Farmersville vs. Commerce at Texas A&M-Commerce
Community vs. the State 7-on-7 div. II champions Melissa
Lone Star with Seniors will play Castleberry
Van Alstyne plays Princeton
La Vega plays Prosper
Anna goes east to play Chisum
Celina hosts Ranchview
in other counties, Bonham plays Callisburg

So let me get this thing started. I have not seen anything about our Farmersville boys this offseason and really don't know what to expect. I hear some good things and based on the history of many of the boys coming into their own I think we should see some good improvement this season. According to the Farmersville News the team will have 18 returning lettermen from last season so they should have plenty of experience. This is by far the toughest district the Farmers have ever been in but I have faith they can take at least third and make the playoffs. Let's play some football!!!

Last year
3A-9 Argyle 17-14 Lucas Lovejoy 3A-11.
2010 Overall Record (13-1) District (5-0)
Do Eagles have anything 2 prove this year??

Last year
3A-11 Farmersville 20-36 Commerce 3A-10.
2010 Overall Record (3-7) District (2-3)
Can the Farmers improved and get back into the playoffs after missing out last year ??

Farmersville will have their hands full making the playoffs this season. I hear their defense is pretty good and if they play good defense then anything is possible.

11-3A
Prosper - big 3A, big football... they're going to be thes best in this district w/o question.
Princeton - rebuilding last year, should be OK this year. The had something last year. Will be better this year.
Farmersville - rebuilding last year, should be OK this year. They had nothing last year, but will be better this year.
Lovejoy - rebuilding this year... big time. Coaching will be what makes the difference.
Lone Star - first year V last year, big 3A has the talent. They just need another year to put it together.
Community - sorry guys. I luv ya, but it's going to be another rough one.

I think Prosper and Princeton are a lock for the top 3 anyway. The Farmers and the Leopards are pretty close, but I give the edge to the Farmers because of their tradition and a little more experience. I think the Leopards just lost too much. They bet it all on last year, and the underclassmen and former JV players will pay for it this year. I would like to see Lone Star and the Braves have some success, but somebody has to get beat. Who knows, it may be a fairly close district this year (except for Prosper running away with it). Might be fun.

By the way, the preseason polls are crap. Spots 1 thru 5 are in the ball park. From 6 down, it's a crap shoot. I wouldn't pay too much attention to it.

Winners this week are Celina, Anna, Princeton, and Lone Star :shock2: ?????????? Lovejoy and Prosper go down. Commerce defeats Farmersville. Melissa beats Community. I didn't attend that game and I see some strange names on the stats.

I went to the Farmersville vs. Commerce game on Friday night. I have to say that I see some good things from this Farmersville team. They were able to move the ball at will against a very fast Commerce team when they weren't turning it over. I'm thinking the Farmersville team actually outgained the Tigers but couldn't overcome the 6 turnovers that gave Commerce 21 points. Here are the areas of concern for me: 1. They were horrible on tackling. I can almost gurantee the Commerce RB s had 90% of their yards after first contact. On one long score by Commerce the runner ran through 6 or 7 arm tackles by the Farmers. 2. O-linemen did not stay on their blocks. It was first contact and done! Both these issues can be addressed for the future. (At least by most coaches it could be). I'm thinking this Farmer team could be quite a bit better than last year and still go 3-7. That's how tough this district will be this season.

On another note: I do like the fact that the Farmersville team has gone to a spread offense. When the QB and his receivers get some better timing we might see some very impressive numbers from them. Will be fun watching it develope.
