You are on top of it these days! After losing 6-0 & then 31-3 to STA; Skyline reeled off 9 wins in a row before being shutout 38-0 by DeSoto (DeSoto's only shutout of the season) who lost 2 weeks later 72-48 to RRSP.

I did the research. It wasn't quite as bad as I thought. After losing 6-0 & then 31-3 to STA; Skyline reeled off 9 wins in a row before being shutout 38-0 by DeSoto (DeSoto's only shutout of the season) who lost 2 weeks later 72-48 to RRSP.
Everything you said about last season is true. However, Skyline lost to the only three good teams they played.
They were 4-3 vs. over .500 teams last year. The three they lost to (STA 14-0, Glades Central 12-2, DeSoto 11-3) have combined records of 37-5. The four other + .500 teams they played & beat (Arl. Bowie 7-4, Lake Highlands 7-4, Dallas Jesuit 6-5, Garland 7-4) have a combined record of 27-17, none of which were considered legit contenders.
So, my point is not that Skyline is a bad team, but that they are a consistently overrated team who's SOS is not all that impressive. When they play legit contending teams, they don't step up.
Dallas Skyline over last 5 seasons
Season / Overall Record / Playoffs / OWL / DCR / vs. +.500 / vs. = or -.500
06-07 / 7-4 / 0-1 / 52-66 / 22-32 / 2-3 / 5-1
07-08 12-2 / 3-1 / 82-81 / 18-33 / 4-2 / 8-0
08-09 12-2 / 3-1 / 85-74 / 33-42 / 7-2 / 5-0
09-10 12-1 / 2-1 / 75-69 / 31-43 / 6-1 / 6-0
10-11 9-3 / 1-1 / 84-54 / 39-34 / 4-3 / 5-0
Ttls 52-12 / 9-5 / 378-344 / 143-184 / 23-11 / 29-1
OWL=Opponents Win-Loss
DCR=District Combined Record (does not include Skyline)
So, bottom line Dallas Skyline is not an elite team in Texas, much less the nation.

If Skyline's OOS performance (47-7) over the weekend means anything; they might be ready for Cocoa next weekend. Cocoa has a pretty good defense; but didn't show much offense in their loss at Colerain. Not very well.
I'd say that depends on which Skyline team shows up. The one that went several rounds deep in the playoffs. Or the one from last season. That's just to determine if Skyline has a chance. Skyline is a very big school, with a lot of talented athletes, speed, athleticism, size, strength, etc... Despite that, they, have never been a true contender.
Cocoa on the other hand has played on the big stage and has nothing to be ashamed in their performances i those games.

Wow...the pass defense by Ridgeway was just horrendous. Could the WR's be any more open?

Agree. I sure hope this doesn't give Skyline false confidence because Cocoa's defense is off the chart. I don't know how strong their secondary is, but the DL is relentless and will eat up this out of shape Skyline OL....game-set-match.
