Happy New Year folks! Hopefully 2012 will more prospererous and joyous as 2011 was if not more. 2011 was an interesting year especially here in Collin County. We started out in the summer by crowning a 7-on-7 champion in Melissa. While that was going on, we endured a record-breaking heat wave that lasted all the way into week 1. During non-district, a storm decided to ruin one of our nights by forcing cancelletions and postponements. Community secretly played a game the following morning. The biggest game in the county was cancelled and we couldn't get to see the two top teams go at it, Melissa and Celina. As the season progressed we saw teams fall one-by-one. Community hit rock bottom at 0-9(or 10?). Anna didn't have success they did in 2010. Lone Star emerged as a more competetive team in 2011, but fell short of making the playoffs. Farmersville wasn't able to put together a winning season as there coach decides to step away from the action. Princeton and Lovejoy made their way into the playoffs but wasn't able to make much farther. Prosper and Celina had a really great season but was knocked out earlier than they would like to. The big winner however wasn't even a 3A school, but 2A Melissa. They started off strong with a productive off-season and then topeed it off with a Class AA Div. I State Championship. And thus, making Collin County the most successful county in Texas in class 3A, and 2A.
