The Farmers of Farmersville have been moved back to 2a (again) and will now be competing with teams their own size rather than against teams with twice their enrollment like Lovejoy, Prosper and Frisco! Will it help? We'll see. The Farmers were placed in District 6 with Commerce, Caddo Mills, Howe, Pottsboro, Sunnyvale and Van Alstyne. Although I have not had much exposure to these other 2A teams recently I fully expect the Farmers to be able to compete for the district championship. I have no knowledge of Sunnyvale or Howe so any input from you guys would be great. The Farmers lost their most athletic player in Byron Brooks (All State D-back) but will still have their QB who will be a senior and their best RB. They will also have a number of RBs that could step up and become great players and make some things happen. If I remember correctly their "big boys" on the o-line and d-line were all pretty young and most will return. They are starting this new season with a new head coach and although some might call that a negative I will label it a ++++++. All in all, I expect an enjoyable season with a little hope for the Farmer faithful. Nobody had even a small anticipation that the Farmers would make any playoff noise in 3A this past season. Even though they actually outplayed both Princeton and Lovejoy in every aspect but the scoreboard and probably should have won those games......... :goof:

Welcome back Farmers. I think Commerce dropped down from 3a as well they and Van Alstyne should give you some competition, and i know Caddo Mills did four years ago, as for the rest of the teams Howe, Pottsboro, and Sunnyvale i dont know, but thats why you play the game. Good luck.

This re-alignment is weird this year with VA, Commerce and Farmersville dropping while Melissa moves into 3A. Caddo Mills remains 2A and Community remains 3A. Hopefully we can fit you guys into our non-district schedules(we need 6 teams). But hey, you get to play Caddo again. Whatever happened to Crazy like a fox?

Crazy still texts me a couple of times a month with some irrelevant and completely uninspired information! :kid: He seems to spend a lot of his time over at the OTHER 2A site.

Melissa is growing quite a bit and should do well in 3A. Especially considering the UIL put them in a district with Anna, Nevada, Bonham and Princeton. The only team in that district that should even give them any problems is Princeton. When the Farmers moved up to 3A they got put in a district with Lovejoy, Princeton, Frisco and Prosper. The only other team in the district smaller than 800 students was Community. Melissa only has 1 team larger than 600 students to compete with. Is there a conspiracy? :face3:

I found the 2012 schedule. Most notibly, there is no Community. The Farmers open with 2 at home vs. Cooper and Krum. Then 3 games on the road at Rains, Melissa, and then at Sunnyvale to start district. The Pottsboro game should be the homecoming game. After a trip up to Howe, a week off will be taken to prepare for some old rivals as the pesky Caddo Mills Foxes come to town. The now 2A Commerce Tigers host the Farmers for the last road game and then Van Alstyne will come to town to close out the regular season, who also drops into class 2A.

I know the folks in Van Alstyne are happy that we are finally out of 3A! Spent 10 long years struggling to compete just based on the numbers game. We've had some pretty good teams and really good players, but coming home to 2A should give the Panthers more opportunity to make deeper runs in the playoffs. Good luck to everyone this year!

I am back!!!! Took a long time off as we were taking our lumps in AAA with an idiot coach! Now that we are back in AA and have a new coach I am cautiously optimistic! Still got aligned in a pretty tough district with Van Alstyne, Commerce and Pottsboro.....The Farmers return a stud at QB and have a returning running back with tons of potential, especially now that he has a year under his belt on the varsity and has matured. I think he will be much improved this year. He has a ton of speed and with the majority of the big boys on both sides of the ball returning, I think he will gash some people this year! I like the Farmers chances to battle Van Alstyne or Commerce for the district title. I hear that VA just got a stud move in at QB and they return a very good running back. How does the playoffs work in AA with the D1 and DII alignments being made already??? How many teams from each district advance??? I think the district title boils down to VA, Farmersville and Commerce. The Farmers will be in every ballgame, so if they have a better coaching staff than previous years, then perhaps they can sneak out wins in close ballgames instead of dropping everyone of them. If so, then I think the Farmers battle for the district title, if not then they settle for 3rd in district. I am going to say that VA would have the edge right now for the district title based solely on one poster's humble opinion. However, I think the Farmers will be right there in the thick of it! Good luck to everyone this season and I look forward to seeing some winning by the Farmers this year!

I know Farmersville lost a hell of a receiver/player in the brooks kid.... Who do they have now @ the wr spots....I had a nephew who played for Princeton last year and I watch the Farmersville / Princeton game. I can’t think of the kid name but he was #32 (freshman) he looked very good @ the wr that game. I heard that class (now soph) have a few kids who can play.

Thanks for the update on the playoff format as I wasn't sure. From what I understand Commerce is ranked pretty high by Dave Campbell but Istill think VA will be the team to beat. We lost Byron Brooks at WR...He was a beast and will be very tough to replace. I do not know what kind of talent we have at WR so that could be a problem for our quarterback if he has nobody to throw the ball to, however I am sure we have some kids coming up that will be able to get the job done. Plus our QB is very mobile so I believe our offense will be able to score points. Last year it was our defense that killed us. We could score 50 points a game, but we let the other team score 60 points a game. If we can improve on defense, then I think we will be very tough to beat in district! I still give the pre-season nod to VA I think, but it will be a three team battle between Farmersville, VA or Commerce. These three teams should be the favorites to make the playoffs, it is just which order they will finish in... Can't wait for the season to start! If anyone has any info on Sunnyvale I would greatly appreciate it. I have absolutely no info on them???

From what I hear sunnyvalle lost everything , they JV team went 1-8 so I dont think they will be a threat. I also text(thats what these kids do now day , lol) my nephew and he said the kid name is Jaelon Clark @ wr, Said he's a soph , and is very talented player, 2nd fastest on the team behind rb simmons. He also said jaelon older bro , is another wr that not as fast but can catch , so they should be ok @ Wr spot. I'll def keep an eye on this District. Good Luck farmers......

Here's a few Highlights on Sunnyvale ( http://www.hudl.com/...hlights/2896894 )

From what I understand we did okay in our scrimmage against Canton, however we are still lacking a solid defense...If we have a repeat of last year where we score 50 points a game but let our opponent score 60 a game, then the Farmers will struggle to get 3rd place. The 1st game of the season should tell a lot as I suspect we will play a pretty good Cooper team.
