http://www.thesenior...com/shakeup.htm

Thanks to Edd Burleson for the statement to our email...different Public vs Private issue. Most states are looking to separate from privates, UIL looks to add them ot the association.

Will be intersting to see what takes place with the UIL committe studying this issue

Why not take a look at how this "so-called" proposal happened.

First, it was a very small (80 students) in Houston that hasn't stopped BellyAching since Basketball season.
The TAPPS Committe gave that little school what they wanted in the playoffs ( a rescheduling of a game.
That school is called Berens. One of the basketball playrr's father is an attorney in Houston. That is the root of all this
mess.

The facts are that most TAPPS Religious H.Schools will have their Athletic teams - especially football descemated.
1. UIL rules are that ALL ATHLETIC COACHES HAVE TO BE FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES. Most now have half their coaches
as part-time or volunteer coaches.
2. ATTENDANCE ZONES- This will KILL the Football Programs in Catholic and Protestant schools.
We saw that big problem widely talkked about when a Dallas Catholic asked to join the UIL a few years ago.
The Public Schools DO NOT trust the Parochial Scools and the Public Schools say that RECRUITING will take place.
You must know now that a kid who plays football for a Public School MUST live in that schools' ATTENDANCE ZONE AND
ATTEND that H.S. all day.

I am hoping that the TAPPS calmer heads will not cimmit suicide by voting to join the UIL

Once the State gets it's big foot in the Parochial School's Business - WHAT'S NEXT? Some fool
in the State Legislature will try to creep in and Tell the Religious Schools what THEY CAN TEACH IN THE CLASSROOMS!
Would you want your Church to be governed by the State Legislature? I DON'T! So let's put an end to this nonsense.
