I HATE PLANO REFS. ALLEN HAS HAD 2 STRAIGHT GAMES IN PLANO. BOTH HAVE BEEN AWFULLY OFFICIATED AND HAVE HAD CALLS THAT MAY HAVE CHANGED THE OUTCOME OF THE GAME. I HATE PLANO REFS. WE LOST BECAUSE A OBVIOUS FUMBLED WAS RULED DOWN ON THE GROUND ON THE PLAY!!!! I HAVE PICTURE EVIDENCE THAT IS WAS A FUMBLE. WE WOULD HAVE WON IF THEY WOULD HAVE REALLY FUMBLED!!!!

Two weeks ago in Weatherford's game we had a TD called back. Video later showed it was a TD, but the ref thought otherwise.

Most of the games may have some bad and some good calls (no opinion on the refs personally). But the last two games make me think there is something not right. Once we started district the calls in the 1st game seemed to be directed at preventing us from winning, the calls in the 2nd game seemed to be personal. I have seen games that were officiated well and games that were officiated passably. The games listed below were jokes. It was like we didn't even need to show up. I am hoping for a better outcome this week. {open mind} :)

In the 1st game it wasn't any one particular call, but the pattern. We were not picked to win, but we showed up strong and it looked like we had control from the start. When we were driving towards a TD to take the lead, the refs started throwing flags until we finally turned over the ball and they scored. After that anytime we crossed the 50, they started again. Also they would throw a flag on us everytime the other team was on 3rd down. We managed not to turn over anymore but still lost the game.

Last week, it was worse. while there were calls both for and against us, there were specific calls against us that were just wrong. 1st the other team got called for illegal procedure but when they ran it in for a TD the refs picked up the flag and waved off the penalty. Then later on 4th down we converted on a running play and after being tackled and taken to the ground, the ball carrier went to get up. As he did he put the ball on the ground at the ref's feet. The ref then called it a fumble and gave the ball to the other team. Later one of their players broke a long run and was tackled against our sideline in front of bench. Getting up he started taunting the players on our sideline. The refs called taunting on him and unsportsman on us. This set the crowd off and had their coaches on the field yelling at the crowd who was yelling at the player. I really thought the game was going to be called at this point. Finally the refs changed the call to taunting and unsportsman against them - and marked off 30yds. But the next play they called us for face mask. When the player called objected, he also got flagged for unsportsman and was ejected.

OK - off my chest, moving on to other things now...

Not trying ot rain on anyone's parade, and correct me if I'm wrong (which i usually am), but don't the coaches pick the refs for the games in Texas? If that is the case them in general i would think that the fans would in general be happier with the referees.

Yes the coaches pick the refs, but if you don't have any good one to pick from then sometime you just get the lesser of the evils. We Played GP in a game that could have decided the district championship. The officiating was so bad our head coach made a highlight film for the refs and made them come and watch it. They will tell you they don't wacth films, but theydid that day. when they left that day they said we did a prety good job. The head of the chapter got a film and told them otherwise. The missed a hold on the corner and 1 chop block on each of the 5 GP TD's our d end was getting posted by the tight end and then chopped by the tackle every time they ran a sweep. Refs never saw it. One ref on film puls out his flag to throw it for a hold on the WR and then looks up and see the ballcarrier break and puts the flag back in his pocket on the run. TD GP. We got screwed by those idiots. GP makes the playoff we stay home. 3 years later same crew same situation but in a 5a game, they take control and the corpus team thats always in the paper and on the news (corpus' favorite school) ends up winnigng and going to the playoffs, and the poor school , stays home. So now I really dislike all officials, until they can prove that they are going to call a fair game. And I hate the Term I did not see it, they have to see it that is there job, if they can't see it they need to sit in the stands and find someone who can.
That is about all I have to say about that.

1995 Bi-District game, Gregory-Portland @ Uvalde, Honey Bowl Stadium at Uvalde HS
Final Score: Uvalde 20 Gregory-Portland 15

OK so maybe I'm still complaining about something that can't be fixed, but Gregory-Portland runs for a touchdown, and about 3 yards deep in the endzone, the RB spikes the ball and the team starts to walk back to the bench. Well the referee throws the beanbag-FUMBLE :wtf: :boo: and Uvalde's DB picks it up and runs it back as the GP players stare  in disbelief. The result of the play is a two-touchdown swing which eliminated the wrong team from the playoffs. To this day I am mad about that play.

At the most, the team should be penalized 15 yds to be enforced on the PAT try. It was ridiculous. Another thing that probably made it hard on the ref was the conditions of the field: It had just rained heavily and the field was very muddy. Still, the 5,000 GP fans in attendance didn't have any trouble telling it was a TD.

I remember hearing about that. That is plain crooked. True case (happens too often) of an officiating crew dictating and deciding who wins a game.

I just don't see how they can get away with such obvious calls like that. I was in shock when it happened to us a few weeks ago. It is like when bother showing up if they aren't even going to be subtle about it. It just deflates the players. Sometimes the really strong teams can overcome the calls and win anyway, but we just aren't there. We had a chance to win the two games, with fair calls, but no way could we overcome... We were just breaking a 24 game losing streak and might have placed 4th or 5th in the district with a fair shot. But we will be last again.

I had an incedent Tues. night at my rec league game (I coach 11-12). The other team onside kicked to us and one of my guys recovered it. One ref blew his whistle (making the play dead at that point). At the same time a kid on the other team kicks the ball from my guy and falls on it. The ref on the other side of the field signaled that they had recovered the ball. I argued that the one fer blew trhe play dead and it was our ball and this is what i was told "technically you're right, but give them a break". GIVE THEM A BREAK!?! GIVE THEM A BREAK!?! It wasd the fourth quarter and we were down by 10. The game just went south after that.
