[edit] Team History
The now defunct South Park High School and South Park Independent School District have an extremely rich history dating back to the late 19th Century. Even though South Park High School did not have it's first graduating class until the 1914-1915 school year, there are records showing that they fielded a competitive varsity football squad as early as 1912 (it must have been comprised of only underclassmen). South Park High along with Beaumont High, Orange High School and Port Arthur Jefferson High schools were the founding fathers of high school football in Southeast Texas, all four having extremely active football programs within 5 years of the UIL itself being founded in 1909.
The South Park football program was never able to claim an all-time winning percentage greater than 50% at any point in the 74 year history of the program, always hovering just below the 0.500 mark throughout it's entire lifespan (coming as close as 1 game below 0.500 in 1940). In 1984 South Park ISD was engulfed by Beaumont ISD and then in 1986 the very last graduating class from South Park received their diplomas and the school was closed and converted in to a middle school, and the student body of the high school merged with West Brook High School. At the time of the school's closing, the football team had an all-time record of 307 wins, 327 losses and 39 ties. I've posted their records from the middle 26 years (1937-1962) of the 74 year history mainly because that's the largest continuous block of time that I have been able to compile for the program so far. I will continue to expand this post (both forwards and backwards in time) as I find individual season records.
