After an impressive first season in Dallas, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is taking home some hardware. On Friday, Prescott was named the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year. This rookie of the year award is determined by online voting through the NFL.

The fourth-round pick was one of the biggest surprises of the season after leading Dallas to a 13-3 record, an NFC East title, and the top seed in the NFC playoffs. After replacing Tony Romo in the preseason, Prescott put up an impressive rookie campaign, throwing for 3,667 yards, 23 touchdowns and just four interceptions. Prescott was also second on the team in rushing touchdowns (6) behind fellow rookie star Ezekiel Elliott.

Per the announcement, Elliott, Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa, Atlanta Falcons linebacker Deion Jones and Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz were all finalists for the award.

The award was established by the NFL in 2002. This is the third year in a row that the award has been given to a quarterback and the fifth time in six years that a signal caller has won the award. Jameis Winston of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015 and Teddy Bridgewater of the Minnesota Vikings in 2014.
