Former Baylor defensive back Travon Blanchard was released on Saturday by the team and will be transferring to Texas A&M-Commerce as a walk on this upcoming season as first reported by David Smoak.

Per additional reports from Smoak, Blanchard had practiced with the team on Friday and due to him being eligible to play immediately, he is expected to play vs. North Alabama in the Texas A&M Commerce season-opener.

Blanchard currently has an open Title IX case at Baylor that was addressed in a statement made by his attorney Michelle Tuegel saying, “The Baylor Title IX process is still ongoing and he will continue to cooperate in that process and looks forward to clearing his name and to his day in court.”

Blanchard was suspended indefinitely at Baylor back in February after a woman accused Blanchard of multiple acts of violence against her and was later arrested in July on a misdemeanor assault charge stemming from those allegations.
