The MaxPreps National Top 25 Rankings have been released for the week of October 6-13 and there are four Texas HS Football teams listed in the weekly poll.
DeSoto and Allen remain steady at two and three respectively. Both teams were off last week with DeSoto getting the mid-district schedule bye and Allen heading into district play this week. As for DeSoto, the Eagles will resume district play with a home game against undefeated Mansfield Timberview on Friday and come off a 50-0 shut out of South Grand Prairie two weeks ago.
Allen, also 5-0, has been nothing short of impressive. The Eagles have scored 41.4 a game and allowed 16.2 a game against top ranked teams in Cedar Hill, Coppell, Hebron and Southlake Carroll. Allen opens up 10-5A district play with a home game against the Plano East Panthers. The Panthers are 4-1 on the season coming off a bye and a loss to Venice (Fla.) two weeks ago by a score of 35-21. Venice is considered one of the top teams in the state of Florida and was ranked seventh in last week’s FloridaHSFootball.com Class 6A rankings.
The Katy Tigers, also coming off a mid-district bye week, is 5-0 and will have a date against Katy Taylor on Friday at Rhodes Stadium. The Tigers have scored at will by scoring 39.4 points a game but allowing just 4 points a game. The Tigers enter the week ranked seventh in the MaxPreps National Top 25 rankings.
Pearland, 5-0, makes its climb into the MaxPreps National Top 25 Rankings at 25. The Oilers, who won the 2010 5A Division I State title, comes off a 69-0 win over Pasadena Rayburn and continues 22-5A play on Friday at Alvin. Through five games, the Oilers have produced three shutouts, scoring 53 points a game while allowing just 1.8 on the other side of the ball.
